I agree with you on Alicia Keys, and I juuuust about got rid of Jill's album with "Golden" on it, so I am thinking we're on the same page. nod

I know razz

The only album I don't have from her though is the one with the "PMS" expresssion, the purse and the video where she walks her ass off for the whole 4 minutes lol

I'm trying to see what everybody's raving about but,,,,,

is that the one with the lyrics that read like a series of boring twitter updates?

Woke up this morning
with a smile on my face
Jumped out of bed
took a shower
dressed
cleaned up my place
Made me some breakfast
toast
2 scrambled eggs
whistle grits
Grabbed my keys
grabbed my purse
grabbed my jacket
Off to work

Aww Timmy, please tell me you being sarcastic. You know that woman can out sing 80% of the R&B and pop acts out here now.
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

When I say too soon I mean in terms of career length. How long has Jill been out, just nine years? They always say you're a legend due to both great performances and a long career. She has a long way to go YEARS-wise to be considered "one of the greats". I don't mean it in terms of talent, which she got lots of.

I definitely think we need to distance ourselves timewise to gain a perspective sometimes. I wouldn't mind naming some folks from the 1990s as "greats".

misfee right Jill's live performances, OMG! One of the dozen or so artist for me.. their album/digital recordings don't capture their true essence. Love this women... love her videos. Most music videos put me in a coma.

If we're gonna call somebody "great",,,lets start with Lalah Hathaway. Now there's a diva that hasn't had her dues, and she has been in this business for what? 20 years.

I've heard some of her songs but she didn't really stick out to me. Never knew she's been out 20 some years though, just started hearing her stuff a few years ago. I mean thats cool if ya'll think she's more deserving of the title, but Jill definitely gets the title in my book. As I've been saying a lot on the org lately, we can all agree to disagree. thumbs up!
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.
