I like her debut, everything after that just does not do it for me. Despite this, I would consider her, one of the greats.

If Beyonce can be considered one of the greats and a "Icon", surely Jill Scott can. Even at her level of recognition, I still think Jill is underrated by today's standards.
I am convinced Beyonce's career would not be where it is, if she had dark skin.

I rate maybe. Her first and third albums are classics but that second one kinda knocks her down a bit for me...She's gonna need a couple more albums to prove she has the consistency to be considered a great.

And sorry folks, I consider Beyonce part of the News Kids On The Block, Def Leopard, Crystal Gale, Paula Abdul, Olivia Newton-John and Rick Astley club. People who were famous for stretches of time but don't have the critical and artistic creed to hold up to history. She will be remembered as a cultural footnote and that's it.

Shoot, Rick Astley has sold 40 millions records worldwide, does that make him one of the greats? Hell. No.

I have to disagree re Bouncy. I am no fan, but she will be remembered. Trust me-Bouncy will go to her grave making sure her legacy is secure.

This is probably right. I don't like her, but I understand that a lot of people do. She'll never widely be considered one of the all-time greats, but she'll probably be known as one of the top neo-soul chicks.

Oh please, go see Jill Scott in a concert and you will walk away knowing that she is ONE OF THE GREATS. That woman's voice is definitely a gift from God. She doesn't just sing, but she knows how to use her voice in ways that it just comes out on point. I love to see her live shows, though her albums sometimes feature tracks that leave me bored but most songs on her album are quite eye opening and realistic. Not always about "I caught my man cheating but I still love him" type bullshit.
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

We need to start making a list, along with Ms Keys, who bores you to tears. I think it is hilarious and if it weren't for Jill's outstanding debut, I would tend to agree.

I agree with missfee. Her albums don't begin to capture what she is capable of doing live. Even the live album IMO wasn't that great. Vocally she is one of the best live performers at least of the last 10-15 years. I haven't been wowed by her material and never bought the last album but she's someone worth seeing in concert.

I basically agree as well. I loved her first album when it was released, but I rarely go back to it. Everything after that has been hit or miss IMO. She was great live, though! nod
