OTIS AND SAM APPRECIATION THREAD Absolutely love it.
Give it up for Mr Cooke and Mr. Redding. Our parents/grandparents were lucky to have artist like these brothas. Today we lucky to have Usher and Neo.

I've really come to love Otis Redding over the past year! I like Sam Cooke too, but something about Otis really works for me. Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

They are both magical. The soulful voices, the lyrics etc. I'm on a mission to learn more.

Their songs have made for some great emotional moments on screen. That's the "Power Of Soul" ya'll....

love both artists!!! You have to love Sam's smooth, mischevious, swagger filled, soulful delivery while Otis had that gritty, down south, rip your clothes off, soulful voice!!!
I love Otis' "My Lover's Prayer". I first heard it on an episode of the Soprano's. It was in the beginning of the show. Had something to do with Chrissy. Anyway, sounds like Otis is begging on the song but its like he's yelling and getting down to the point at the same time I also love the song "Nobody Knows You (When You're Down & Out)"...now I love Bobby Womack's version, but once I heard Otis' version, it was over I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I love both of their music, but I am a huge fan of Sam's. What an amazing, real voice he had.

Made me tear up. Yes it was, but I felt it fit like a glove for the scene in "Malcolm X" directed by Spike Lee. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Made me tear up. Damn when I watched that scene it felt like I could feel every bullet and every tear. Then Al Green testifying like that in the background didn't help non either lol [Edited 11/20/09 19:06pm]

Rod Stewart paid tribute to both Sam and Otis, along with Muddy Waters, in his song 'Muddy, Sam and Otis' on his album 'A Spanner In The Works' released back in '95 I believe.
