Can't decide on a favorite. But here's a bunch that came to mind:
It's cool. And hot. Plays on the title and a sexy image of Chrissie. Ironic parody and hot. Hot, attention-getting, in-your-face. Iconic. Great pic of the artist and I like a minimalist esthetic. Ditto. Born to Run, Darkness, U.S.A. or Live/1975-85 are more obvious choices, but I like the combination of pic, design and coloring on this one. Probably my fave representation of the eminently cool Blue Note esthetic. I heart minimalism. So great, it was used for two albums: The "Black Album" and the revised cover of Smell the Glove.

Here's a fun one. I love the lettering and facial expressions. It's all campy in a mid-20th century sci-fi feature kinda way.

The vibrant red against an otherwise subdued palette, the softness of the velvet and female skin against a stone wall, the classic serif font against a clean, minimal composition, and that enigmatic pose. It all just works so well together. I love Julia Fordham

The best album covers to me are the ones that are simple, but effective.
One in particular that stands out in my mind works partly because it is so in sync with the album title:

Somebody's already posted my favorite (Aladdin Sane), so I'll go with my 2nd fave: Roxy Music's For Your Pleasure! Amanda Lear's awesome pose with that luring panther against the city backdrop perfectly captures the nocturnal glamor of the music within.

Sign O The Times is my favourite. Of the more marginal genres:
I like it because it's minimalist, grim and everything. The picture was just probably stolen from the net, but why should I care.

Here's a newer one that I'm liking...
In person, the shades of gray, the stormy clouds and the intensity of the orange are really beautiful together. That aside, I've always loved the image of someone being carried away by something into the sky. Often it's a symbol of youthful freedom, as with the kid and the balloon on the ATWIAD cover, or the kid with the flying snowman on the soundtrack for the Christmas short The Snowman. Here, Our Lady Peace turns that symbolism on its ear. This grown man, with his sinister smile and 9-to-5 attire, is being swept away -- willingly it seems -- to some place likely not so liberating. And with a title borrowed from Kerouac's stuff, I think this art is an interesting statement about where we're all going. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου
μηδὲν ὅλως σὺ λυποῦ πρὸς ὀλίγον ἐστὶ τὸ ζῆν τὸ τέλος ὁ χρόνος ἀπαιτεῖ.”

Another really good new one...
Picturesque, but unsentimental photo captures the unforced reverence of the season, and because Sting is so relatively small, it's clear that winter itself gets equal billing here. Classic serif font in black (not some horrid red and green ) says, "class." And the ellipsis in the title (which I'd generally think is a cheap shot) here actually makes me want to know what follows. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου
μηδὲν ὅλως σὺ λυποῦ πρὸς ὀλίγον ἐστὶ τὸ ζῆν τὸ τέλος ὁ χρόνος ἀπαιτεῖ.”

Tortilla said: Iconic. Androgynous. The use of color. Alien. Unmatched cool. Futuristic, yet telling of its time. The look Grace gives. Evocative of the music on the album. Perfect. [Edited 11/20/09 2:13am] Almost all of her covers are fantastic. And the coolest thing is, Grace's personality and sheer beauty can back up the severity of this art in real time. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου
