He said she had no knowledge of Egyptology...well isn't that what his ass was there for? To educate her? Also, I bring up his being Arab and most likely being educated by Europeans as a negative for Bey's education because often the European stance on Egyptology totally removes the African origin. Are you aware that most people, particularly Americans, don't ever learn that the Cheops (for whom the great pyramid of kufu was built) was black/African and not arab and sho nuff not white. They don't learn that Tut was actually black and not asian or arab. Are you aware that Egypt got much of its architecture and knowledge from Nubia? Are you aware that many maps now remove the country of Egypt from the continent of Africa? Why do they do that? Hmm, I dunno...racism maybe? Are you aware that many native Egyptians (of dark skin and pure African heritage) are discriminated against in Egypt as the Arabs control the politics, education and resources? I think this guy has a lot of nerve calling Bey out to be stupid. Whatever he learned, he learned under the teachings of someone else and he should show a little more respect and patience toward her and not call her out publicly like that. It wreaks of ignorance and lacks manners and maturity, which I presume is par for the course when Arab men have to deal with western women. I doubt if he were schooling Angelina Jolie, he would take her seemingly disinterest or lack of knowledge regarding ancient Egyptian history as an offense. Its so silly how every topic that has anything to do with Egypt, someone just has to turn it into a race discussion on who did what. Its a ridiculous statement to make that Beyonce shouldnt be educated about Egypt by this egyptian expert just tbecause shes black and hes arab. Whatever anyone has learned has been taught to them by someone else. Everything you're saying is pointless statements where it seems your only aim is to say black people were the original egyptians. Someone always has to come into a thread on egypt and make that point, even when it has nothing to do with the topic.

Hell, maybe he gave off a vibe that wreaked of condescension and that's why she seemed to ignore him which he took as stupidity on her part. I've been to Egypt twice and I never heard anyone claiming that the Pharaos or the people in ancient Egypt were arabs. I am sure there must be some stupid ethnocentric school of thought who teaches that but it's probably marginal (just like the school of thought which teaches that Homer was a Turk and Alexander the Great was a Slav). I have heard much more the view that the Assyrians were Arabs (which also is not true) than anything about the Egyptians. That said, I am not aware of any scientific proof that the ancient Egyptians were blacks, Sure, blacks were used as slaves in that period (as were Jews) but every image we have from that time shows the Pharaos as whites and common Egyptians as mixed people (some people black, some people white). I might be wrong on this though. I would also like to say that there is no conflict between being arab and being black. The two are not comparable. Being arab is a culture or an ethnicity and being black is a race. In fact muslim religion during the centuries has treated minorities much better than christianity did although they were abuses of course. Lastly, even though I don't know what really happened with Beyonce in Egypt, being black does not justify being ignorant (if that's what she was). And a white, arab, muslim, black or any person has every right to criticize any celebrity irrelevant of her colour or ethnicity and he has every right to be wrong and change his mind too. Anyone who's seen a Beyonce interview knows that the girl isn't the brightest light bulb in the marquee so this isn't a new statement for me. Man, considering all the strong women who came out of Egypt's history (ie Cleopatra and the great Nefertiti) it would be nice if Beyonce, who often likes to consider herself to be such an empowered and independent woman, were to look into where it all started...especially Nefertiti because she is believed to have been a female pharoah and that was almost unheard of back in that day and age. Yet another reason for me to stop taking Beyonce seriously. Educate yourself. [Edited 11/14/09 11:47am] Prince Rogers Nelson

Word..... MICHAEL JACKSON

I'm an expert on random subject 2818762857290 and because Beyonce isn't interest in said subject, she's stupid.
ok. It's a god damn tourist trap, albeit an impressive one.
