Hip Hop in Europe I'm aware that there's Hip Hop outside AMerica. Don't hear much on BBC One but I do online on 1Xtra. I'm listening to stations online and watch TV. FOr instance VIva was available online. THat's how I got familiat with artists like Raptile,Azad,Team Eimbush,Bushido, and who was that guy who wore the metal skull on his head? Oh and I like Fuck You All.
I could see Dance being popular over EUrope cause black and white people listen to it. But outside England there aren't many black people. SO in England they play House,Drun'n Bass and Grime along with Hip Hop-R&B. WHat's funny is I though Dance was bigger in Germany. But unlike The Uniyed Kingdom they don't seem to play Dance on their Pop stations. THat or Hip Hop. That's funny cause I though Hip Hop was bigger in Germany. Is there no Hip Hop and Dance on German TOp 40 stations cause they have enough listners to have stations on thier own? I see wuite a many Dance station online but only a few German Hip Hop stations. Like ENgland I see Dance and Hip Hop-R&B combined. But only a few just pure Hip Hop. I know white germans like Rap but that could be explaned cause there aren't too many black people in Germany. Wonder what that's like. But I wonder are these internet only stations cause none of them seem to have commercials. Something unheard of in The United States. What would you say in bigger in Europe, Hip Hop or Dance? I know in ENgland they listen to Reggae. Working up a purple sweat.

I know that, that's partially cause you have Dance stations. Here we only have 8 in the very largest markets. Hardly any Hip Hop-R&B stations play it. Dance is something you hear once or twice and hour on a top 40/Pop station.
Although England doesn't have any I know other countries, particuarly Germany has them. There are pure Dance stations over there but what about Hip Hop? I could see England,France and Germany having them but Poland,Hungary, and Moscow I don't see. I mean cause Europe is majority white outside of England. I mean there and former slave countries France and SPain probrably have a minor amount but as for Germany I don't think Which is funny cause half of German Hip Hop is black. Even funier they have white rappers which is practically unheard of here. Lioness who is a white female german rapper was on a talent show here and lost. BUt I saw here in a German Hip Hop video with Raptile. [Edited 10/25/09 23:19pm] Working up a purple sweat.

I can't speak for other European countries, but dance music has always been more popular in Iceland than hip-hop. There was a period in the late 90s and the early 2000s when local hip-hop became mainstream and one of the hip-hop acts even got a record deal in America (Quarashi)... shortly after they and the other big hip-hop group here (XXX Rottweiler) broke up the scene faded back into the underground.
The mainstream stuff from America still gets some airplay but other than that, the hip-hop scene is not very lively at the moment. I did notice though the other day that one of the members of XXX Rottweiler, BlazRoca, was on a TV show rapping to a dance track. This type of stuff is actually much more popular than more "traditional" hip-hop over here. But here are three examples of Icelandic hip-hop: Quarashi - "Mr. Jinx" : Bent & 7Berg - "Má ég sparka" (Can I kick it?) BlazRoca - "Stórasta land í heimi" (Biggestest country in the world) - The title is poking fun at a grammar mistake the first lady of Iceland (who is Israeli - not exactly a native speaker) made when she was hyping the country after some success at last year's Olympics. The lyrics are mostly about the financial crisis and making fun of the cockiness of Icelandic politicians and businessmen before the banks crashed:
