After witnessing Jackson's dizzying onscreen craftsmanship and indefatigable dedication to his thing, if you aren't left with the irrepressible desire to step up your own game, then you missed MJ's most dynamic move ever. I read people here say: his dancing was still plendid, his singing was still great. Really, i am questioning what 'glasses' you were wearing when you looked at his dancing: but from the snippets I have seen, i noticed his movements were wooden / awkward / not energetic at all, I dont need to see some entire plastic movie to see more of that. In those snippets i saw MJ was lypsynching again, while the music was prerecorded. I dont need to see an entire movie, to get more irritated. When some snippets of 'This is it' allready show that MJ is some superficial, lazy, plastic act, why should i watch the entire movie then? Its simply not my idea of music and artistry. then why don't you get your self righteous bitter prince fanbot ass out of this thread then? and you criticize MY tone? "My God it's full of Stars"

saw the movie today....i'm wasn't really excited about it. It feels like every concert of Michael was pretty much the same. Don't get me wrong, i love his music, but i didn't see anything i haven't seen before. Watching a performance, i could already tell what he was going to do next. Like with the Jackson 5 medley, he screans 'everybody'...he did that since the Bad tour. Billy jean, Thriler...sorry, but we've seen it before. Human Nature (one of my favourite songs of all time), it was just the same as 20 years ago.
On the other hand, i really loved the gay athmosphere...guys taking off there shirts, guys touching their crotch while Michael was dancing, the military fetish...and the only woman on stage (they should have said at the audition: men only!), he didn't know how to deal with her....mmmh, just wished he had come out of the closet. RIP Michael...he seems like such an innocent and sensitive man, maybe too inconcent for this world...I hope they won't keep milking his death till forever...but they probably will, cause thats the world we live in...its all about the money

Now, I do see how long-time fans and followers could get a bit bored. I do wish he had mixed a few things up. There's no reason for They Don't Care About Us to be performed over other classics. He could easily just do Man In The Mirror OR Heal The World, he didn't have to do both. Replace The Love You Save with Dancing Machine, Keep On Dancing or Blame It On The Boogie. Just change it up. But given that the film was rehearsals, I did see more changes than I expected and like you said, adding things like Threatened and the new videos helped to make old stuff feel new again. And the instrumentation and live vocals helped things quite a bit.

And all the military stuff...thats a really gay fetish Not getting into the was he wasn't he conversation - it's redundant and makes no difference. But wanted to address a few things... The male dancers were on stage more because they had more numbers that have traditionally been presented with a male ensemble - think "Smooth Criminal" "Beat It" etc - but even in these routines the female dancers were on stage. The only song (shown) that had the female dancer/s in more of a lead role was The Way You Make Me Feel and the interaction dancing there was more jazz orientated in the moves with more flourishes of hands and extensions of feet, more flowing. As for the hand on the thigh moment in I Just Can't Stop Loving You - yes it was forced because it was always there since the Dangerous tour - a subtle move that the audience would lap up. More natural were the moments when he would pull the female duet partner into his grip and hold her - minor moments but still evident. One number that didn't make it to the edit (not sure if they had fully rehearsed it) was Dirty Diana. Although the film gives a glimpse of what was to happen, Michael would have been surrounded by pole dancing female leads and aerialists who would dance in "go-go" style chandeliers that descended on the stage, while the pole dancers would dance around a large bed being erected. A "fire goddess" would then seduce Michael around the stage with him being tied to the bed. A drape would have covered him and then pulled back to reveal him gone (this tour's disappearing intro into Beat It). This number definitely would have dialed up the interaction between Michael and the female dancers. Just helping create a full picture of what was going to be shown.
