Really? I don't think any of them were good or great singers. They were all just average to me. They were more entertainers than vocalists.

Johhny could sing. The rest were way below average singers.
I have all of their cd's though. I like a good portion of it but Ricky's solo cd was really bad.

Oh no! Don't get me wrong, Johnny can sing his ass off, but like Keith Sweat, they start whining and begging after a while.

I never looked at Johnny as being a begger in his songs. If I would pick the begger in the group, it would be Ricky. Especially on songs like "When Will I See You Smile Again" and "Something In Your Eyes".

Did they talk at all about their single "Gangsta" and how that 1992/1993 project got switched around?

I cant even think about that song without thinking about this cameo on Fresh Prince of Belair. Still cracks me up.

nod I agree with this too. Though Ricky is a good singer, Johnny can sing circles around all of them.....just don't depend on him to stay in sync with the dance moves though. I've seen him foul up a few times on awards shows. lol

Dancing is or never was Johnny's strong point. lol

Wha?, Ricky had a solo CD????

And no, Johnny couldn't dance, poor thing.

Yeah Ricky's cd was "Ricardo Campana." I only listened once and was kinda disappointed. Maybe I had high expectations or prolly should try listening again.

Yeah I gotta catch this, too.

As I've been saying for years, after NE's debut lp [bRalph was always the 3rd best singer[/b] in the group. disbelief There's nothing to be surprised about him sounding like crap these days, because he always did. LOL. What is surprising is that he remained the front man in spite of that. But I digress.

BBD's 2nd lp dropped in 1993 when R&B music was going through a transition. I believe yhey would have had better successs if they had released an lp in 1992, or waited til 1994 had had a more mature sound TLC did.

I have always felt Ralph was the best singer out of the original memebers of New Edition but his solo albums sucked I honestly believe if he had went solo first instead of Bobby Brown he would have fared better. It was all about timing IMO Bobby just beat him to the punch.

The title is pretty weird, I think. It would make me expect a spanish sound like el cantante. However, if you listen again and like it, let us know.

Did Ralph work with Jam and Lewis too? Just wondering because I always felt that they were the onse who made Bobby a hit. Just like they did with NE's, NE Heartbreak.

Although, I liked Bobby's prior album too where he worked with Larry Blackmon. Both albums were more edgy than prior NE albums had been which was a nice transition I guess, because the first BBD album was like WTF???? It was good but very raunchy compared to NE.

Seeing the "behind the scenes" about the songs made me feel kind of good. Especially, knowing now that even Ronnie wasn't so gung hu about certain lyrics. I felt like "okay, I wasn't a prude". They were really going for shock value. lol

Naw that was Teddy Riley/ L.A.- Babyface who produced all those hits for Bobby, not Jam & Lewis.

Ralph worked with Jam and Lewis on his solo debut. Bobby worked with LA and Face for his "Don't Be Cruel" album, along with Teddy, Gene and someone else I can't remember right now.

It was good, a bit unfocused but really good

New Edition and it's offsprings have been in the game for a long time now with over 24 albums altogether

They could make a good comeback if they kept the egos in check, went to business, and keep Bobby sedated lol

Remember that incident during the tail end of the NE Reunion Tour?!?

Bobby never finish the tour because of lack of money NE were making off that tour. He even went as far as saying that he could've make that very combine total as a solo act.

I remember that BS!

I saw that tour and was so disappointed. When they came to Dallas, Bobby was high as hell and couldn't make it through the show. Also, Ralph didn't show up.

Bobby even left the stage a couple of times in the middle of performing the show and "used the bathroom".

And aren't Ralph, Bobby, and Johnny touring together too as a group called "Head of State"? I could have sworn that was what Bobby said on his "Behind the Music" show that just aired.

Yeah--"Heads of State" came to Detroit this past summer and so did BBD in separate concerts. They're both still hanging in there, but they really need to get together as New Edition.

What would that accomplish? I don't see it being beneficial. Especially when u have all of these BIG egos. Almost all of them have huge egos and think they are better than they are. Until the egos get pushed aside, that will never happen.

After seeing the Reunion tour, I don't care if they ever get back together. That was an utter mess.

I agree, but then again, this bright idea of a "NE Reunion Tour" will be brought up again for somebody to make money off of.
