Coldplay rips off Radiohead's sound...but you might like Coldplay anyway...I love Radiohead and even though "Yellow" sounds like "Fake Plastic Trees", I still like Coldplay

Purplmusik:

I find that Kid A takes a lot of its sound from bands like Tortoise and the 'Sea and Cake.' Both of Tortoise's first albums are phenomenal, but they are wholly instrumental. In terms of the Sea and Cake, I am partial to 'The Fawn'. It sounds strikingly like Kid A at points and has some great, truly beautiful songs and sounds. It does not have the tension and anger that help make Kid A so great, but is terrific in its own right.

Hope this helps.

Hey, try Sigur Ros' latest: ( ) They're a band from Iceland who make beautiful trippy music, kinda like Kid A (I said 'kinda'). I guess you would like them if you dig Kid A.

I think you should take another listen to both "Yellow" and "Fake Plastic Trees"...they are nothing alike, any fool can hear that!

The only things that the two bands have in common is that they are both British and make sometimes depressing music. The latter Radiohead does it a lot darker.

I'm sorry, but I didn't like most of Kid A, I only liked "Optimistic" and another one, I forget the title. Coldplay's CD is WAY better than Kid A, IMO. There's not a song on there I don't like. I can't say that for Kid A.

Ooohh, there's a fight in there i reckon. Kid A is one of my very favourite albums, far better than either of Coldplay's albums (which i love.) The differences in taste, eh!

definately a difference in tastes. But, I'm willing to give Radiohead and Kid A another try. Perhaps I'm not in the right mood or something. shrug

Sdldawn - you and I have some similiar tastes in music! Beck, Radiohead... I'm a fan of both, too. biggrin

I agree that Kid A is a really great album. My favorite on it is 'How to Disappear Completely', but I also really like 'Optimistic' and 'Idioteque'.

Are you familiar with the British band called James? (I never seem to run into anybody else who knows of them..)

I must say that KID A is one of my favourite non-prince albums. In fact it is a all time classic and should be named among the greatest 10 albums of all times...
