Tamar - Nu Track "HeartBeat" Grammy nominated artist Tamar Davis, a native Houstonian is scheduled to release her independent album "My Name is Tamar..." early 2010. She's performed on Prince's "3121" album, BET awards, Brit Awards, Saturday Night Live and Good Morning America. Tamar has independently taken an initiative by using her own finances to complete her highly anticipated album and music video to her debut single "Heartbeat".
Nice track! Looks like Tamar took that PRINCE revenue and is working it out. I hope she makes it.

well, i lasted :40 seconds in...1)she still has the worst fashion sense 2)only stupid artist try to resemble other stupid artist...what the hell is up with the change in vocal execution? all that up and down vocal fluctuation makes me sea sick and dates the song horribly. were artist in the 80's all trying to copy christopher cross when he was the biggest selling artist around? where they copying donna summers in the 70's? Sure they copied the musical styles but the actual vocal execution?
What's more pathetic is that Tamar is reinventing herself here...as a clone. It's my same problem with the other hack hanging around, Joss Stone, find your own damn voice damn it!!!! Space for sale...

She's cute... I've lost the use of my heart, But I'm still alive, Still looking for the life, The endless pool on the other side, It's a wild wild west, I'm doing my best, I'm a soldier of love, Every day and night, I'm soldier of love, All the days of my life.

The track is annoyingly syrupy and only tolerable on the chorus. This is an example of a good voice being misused. Her vocals are fine on the chorus and her overall singing is fine but that sub chorus of "boom, my heart just skips a beat..." sounds like its fighting the actual chorus for the spot of "main chorus" chorus in the song. This track is guilty of trying too hard.
The constant piano arpeggios throughout the whole song; the "power ballad" ad libs on the guitar...way over the top for a song this tempo. Also, the verses have the "too many words syndrome" that almost every R&B song has these days. The Dream and NeYo and other have made over-wording songs popular (via Beyoncé and most contemporary pop singers) and its a really ugly trend and a sign of poor songwriting. Its harder to condense a song into fewer words to communicate an idea than it is to write rap verses and sing them. That's lazy songwriting. I went in with an open mind (I don't dislike Tamar like so many on here seem to) but this song REALLY needs reworking. I hope her whole CD isn't like this.

It's not bad.
Need a little more "soul" though. This sounds like something Jennifer Hudson would sing. I want Tamar to knock it out like Mary J or Patti cuz I know she can. Come on girl!!!!!
