New Living Colour album.

This caught me completely off guard.

Was listening to Stain, as is my occasional want, when for some reason I decided to google them. Low and behold a new album "The Chair in the Doorway".

Now being a fan I made the reflex purchase. However I must say I was preparing myself for the worst after the "Collideoscope" debacle. Terrible, terrible album.

So imaging my surprise when the album turns out to be quite good ...great in fact!

The opening track "Burned Bridges" is a highlight as is "Young Man" and the hidden track "Asshole". The more I listen, the more I like!

It's not a patch on their 90's stuff, but my hopes weren't that high. I wanted a good solid album, and that's what I got!

Any listeners...??

I like them a lot (but I agree that Collideoscope is not good). I might check this album out wink

I got the new one (Chair in The Doorway) a couple weeks ago. I didn't even know they were back together.

This new CD reminds me more of "Vivid" and "Time's Up" more than "Collideoscope". If you like LC's earlier stuff, you'll probably like this new disc.

I knew it was coming, but missed the release. Heading to iTunes now...
Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it.

It's a great album. Period.
It's way more like Stain and way less like Collideoscope.
Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way.

I've always found it odd that people pay so much attention to 'Vivid'.

Sure it's a good album. But for me it falls well behind 'Time's Up', and certainly behind 'Stain', which I think is their best album (..by some margin).

Having said all of that. In the last 10 years or so, when I've had an urge for Living Colour, 'Biscuits' (EP) is what I inevitably listen to. Sure it's only an EP, with an odd mix of originals, covers and live tracks; But to me this EP is PERFECT Living Colour. Everything that's good about them is on that EP.

Although I'm really enjoying 'Chair in the Doorway', the sound quality, as it was with 'Collideoscope', leaves a lot to be desired. To be fair, it's a bit better than the 2003 release. But they set the bar sooooo high with 'Stain'. Which is one of the best sounding/produced/mastered rock albums of all time IMO.

It's a sad reflection on the org, where a thread about Mariah Carey's new album can attract over 400 posts, and this thread struggles to make 10. confused

The amount of dross that fills this forum, particularly contemporary R & B, is quite disheartening. sad

This album is surprisingly good considering how bad the last one was. I think the songwriting is much better and has a better vibe, the production seems much better.

So who plays bass on this CD? Muzz or Doug?

Still waiting on that "tell all" docu-movie on L.C.

Doug's on the new CD. I have no idea what happened to Muzz. He hasn't been with them in years....

I am rather curious to hear this new album.

I love Vivid and Times Up, Stain was a bit too one-dimensional for me, and i havent heard their last comeback-one.

Some magazine here gave the new album 1 out of 5 stars (their complaint: not a decent composition on it, just dwelling on their past...), while you peeps seem to say its rather good.

Mmm... gonna check the torrentsites. biggrin

the HighLine Ballroom show last night was awesome. Corey sounded just as good as he did when they hit the scene. The whole band was just great. Really diggin' the new album more now that I've heard some of the tracks live.
