Details on R.Kelly's new CD

Looks like scandal hasn't kept R.Kelly out of the recording studio. His new CD 'Chocolate Factory' will be released on January 28.The first single "Ignition" is Number 11 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip Hop singles sales chart and Number 35 on the Hot 100 this week. The 14-track set will come with a six-track bonus CD,featuring cuts that have been lifted from Kelly's heavily bootlegged but as-yet-officially unreleased album 'Love Land'.

Here is the full tracklist to 'Chocolate Factory':

"Chocolate Factory"
"Dream Girl"
"Forever More"
"I'll Never Leave"
"You Knock Me Out"
"Step In The Name Of Love---Remix"
"Heart Of A Woman"
"Showdown" featuring Ron Isley
"Ignition"
"Ignition" (remix)
"Forever"
"You Made Me Love You"
"Step In The Name Of Love"
"Here I Am"

BONUS CD---

"Love Land"
"What Do I Do"
"Heaven I Need A Hug"
"The World's Greatest"
"Far More"

Well, what do guys think? Considering how well the first single is doing,is it too soon to count him out?

My first question is why is he including remixes on the damn ALBUM?? Geezz!!! How much sense does that make? Is he losing creativity or what? And second, why is Ron Isley STILL recording with this cat? Maybe this was recorded a while ago, but I would think he would stay clear of Kelly for a while!

Neva mind the fact that he's wrong about what he did and he deserves what will happen 2 his next lp. It still won't change the fact that the brutha made some very good music.

But that is just my opinion so don't hound me lol

He has "I Wish" (Great song) and it's remix on his last album too. Maybe he just wants to express different interpretations of his songs like with "Sex Me" and his maxi-singles.

Ron Isley should want to stay close if he has sense, "Contagious" is one of the best songs in recent years IMO. "Down Low" was equally good.

"Worlds Greatest" as in from the Ali OST? Are these the highlights from "Loveland" on bonus disc? I hear it contained some of his best work.

Have to be honest that "Ignition" wasn't so inspiring to me on first listen, sounded a weak relation of "You Remind Me".

Even though his actions disturb me I'm really into Ignition. I usually don't like R. Kelly all that much but I think that song is really good. shrug

I haven't heard Ignition yet. In light of everything that's happened I'm still avoiding his music. I do think he's talented & really like a of his stuff, but it's gonna be hard to listen to a love song where he's singing about women but thinking about intimidated 13 year old girls... shake I don't care how good it sounds, I'm constantly thinking "this dude is sick." neutral

Where would this logic end though? It's probably impossible to name an artist (Or anyone else from any other walk of life for that matter) whose personal life who could gain an individual's universal approval.

I hear ya. In a way it's silly b/c I'm sure there are other artists I like who's personal shit would repulse me as well, I just don't know about it. But I have the same problem with Woody Allen, I can't completely separate his mess from his art. I can't help it... neutral

Cool. My take is that it's not my place to judge where he's at or what got him there. R's choice to which country he lives in is his own and by doing so he lives under the relative legal system. Not to be in bad taste but aren't there states in which he could of legally been with girls aged 14?

This all said I wouldn't recommend any females under the age of 16 going for an R. Kelly casting couch rehearsal. smile

That said I agree an artist should keep it as true as possible if they take their fans seriously, in the closet artists who date men in personal lived then sing to females is just fake at the end of the day. In R's case though I guess he wasn't fake, he didn't write "18 & Over" (How old were Mayte and Nona Gaye when P met them? hmmm) and instead told us via Aaliyah that "Age Ain't Nothin' But a Number". smile

You dont think sex with 13 year olds, and repeatedly with other minors is crossing the line?

Yea, I hear ya, but there's a lot of blurry shit about Prince IMO. I don't know how old those girls were when he met them, I don't know how old they were when he fucked them. I do know people assume a lot of shit (not you, just fans in general), rumors run wild, blah blah blickety blah.

I'm not crazy about the fact that P likes 'em young, but until I see him on tape getting sucked off by a nervous 13 year old girl, I don't have any major problems w/ him. P & R are not in the same boat IMO... smile

Like I said that's for R. Kelly and the laws of the state he commits his alleged crimes in. At no point have I said I think he's a good guy just that the music he releases if not contradictory can be taken on it's own terms.

R. Kelly the man is down to the interpretation of information as we find it and as such most of us wouldn't recommend young girls hanging around him...

I wasn't having a go at Prince (I believe Mayte and Nona were both 16 btw), just saying his message of "18 & Over" may be contradictory while R. Kelly has at least been consistent in his insistence (Via his fifteen year old ex wife) that "Age Ain't Nothin But A Number".

I haven't seen the video of R. Kelly, I thought the girl was fifteen at the time not thirteen? I'm not really sure under what circumstances it's to be viewed? A lot of viewers will use it for paedophilic kicks no doubt. Maybe if I did see the film I'd would feel differently on this issue. Good chance I'd feel differently if I wasn't a fan also.
