blackguitaristz said: Michael didn't attend the Purple Rain Premier. Warners Bros held a screening for folks who worked at the company on the lot of WB in Burbank, Ca. Michael made arrangements with Warners to see the film there but was late to the screening. The studio brass held up running the film UNTILL Michael showed up. He sat in the last row of the theatre all the while keeping his shades on. 10 minutes before the film ended, Michael got up and bailed. This is what was quoted in the book of what Michael thought of the film..."The music is o.k. I guess. But I don't like Prince. He looks mean and I don't like the way he treats women. He reminds me of some of my relatives. And not only that, the guy can't act at all. He's really not very good."
I can believe the first part (not sure about the leaving early part unless he left to avoid the crowd - if you leave 10 minutes before the end of purple rain, you miss the whole point of the movie), but don't believe the quote at all - it's been pretty well established that Michael and Prince were friends and had mutual respect for each other (despite the way media and fans tried to portray it). And it's pretty common knowledge that Michael wrote Bad intending it to be a duet with Prince - you don't write songs to sing with people you don't like and think are mean looking. How Jackson Fought To Hire Dr. Conrad Murray by Entertainment Weekly staff October 2009 Though outsiders wondered whether Michael Jackson could pull off the physically grueling task of mounting 50 concerts, Jackson’s collaborators were reassured as they watched some of the world’s best young dancers struggle to match his moves. Still, the pop star did look awfully thin. “I was always handing him Boost drinks and meal-replacement things,” says choreographer Travis Payne. “We all encouraged him to eat as much as he could. But at the same time, I understand: When you eat a lot and then you dance, it hurts. It was all for his art, I think.” Jackson had insisted on retaining a full-time private physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, who was paid through the show’s budget to oversee his medical needs. Dr. Murray is now the focus of a manslaughter investigation. “Michael was very confident in the doctor,” Randy Phillips, president of concert promotion firm AEG Live, says. “I actually tried to talk him out of hiring him. I didn’t want to spend $150,000 a month on a doctor, since we were playing in London, which has phenomenal medical resources. It was the first time Michael and I had cross words with each other. He admonished me that he needed a doctor 24/7, the same way Barack Obama did, because his body is what fuels this whole business. Michael prevailed on that. And I guess, looking back, we know why.” http://popwatch.ew.com/20...ad-murray/

its funny all these songs came up , that some of us know about such as crack kills. fly me away , love never felt so good , little susie wich he worked later on obviously ,scared of the moon ( i thought sky is the limit is a biggie song ) make or break( wich i thought was a song written during trial, at least its a title that occured during that time. 4 titles make or break was one of them)

Superstition said: It was a drug overdose. Simple as. You don't' have to be on your deathbed for an overdose to kill you. That's why drugs are so dangerous. People seem to have this notion that MJ was being worn down, worn down, worn down and then finally this last bit of drugs killed him. I doubt that's what happened. Most likely he was fine (outside of his addiction or sleep problems) and the overdose killed him.
Otherwise healthy people die everyday from overdose. It's a sad issue. Yep. It is what it is. Drugs can certainly kill healthy individuals. I just read up on something happening to Corrine Bailey Rae's (now deceased) husband. Though, he had taken non-prescription, he was naive in its use. But drugs are drugs. It is a very sad issue.

something seems shady about AEG, did anybody else peep the article where the randy philips dude said he followed the ambulance to the hospital? my question is why was he called to the scene and who called him?it just seem strange to me that a man dies or is dying while under a doctor's care and the Dr. decides to call the head of the company thats promoting his concert.

It's nothing strange. The doctor's job was to take care for Mj in order MJ being fit for the concerts. I'm sure, Murray was told to inform Randy Williams about every step, and since MJs death is a major reason for having to cancel the show Murray called Williams.

Superstition said: I also find it odd that many MJ fans seem to be absolving MJ of being an addict. I don't know why people want to tiptoe around the issue or try to call it a dependency or sugar coat it or whatever. To do so mitigates a valuable lesson and is just plain wrong in my opinion. This man had a problem, one which I don't think anyone could blame him for having seeing as the amount of pressure people put him under. But it doesn't change the fact he clearly had a problem. What other excuse is there for a hired, personal physician visiting in his home and using IV drips and things of that nature?
Well, probably because he didn't take drugs to get high, but because he took medication, given to him by a doctor and under his supervision, to take care of a problem! Of course that doesn't absolve anyone, but at least the doctor, if Michael himself didn't know, should have known better and not gone down that path of treatment!
