Jackson Family Member: Movie Is 'Riveting'

Posted Oct 25th 2009 10:29PM by TMZ Staff

Finally a member of the Jackson family is speaking out about the Michael Jackson movie "This Is It" -- up to now the family has either been silent or negative about the flick.

But Jackie Jackson -- who saw the movie on Thursday night -- liked it a lot, telling TMZ:

"My brother's movie 'This Is It' is truly riveting. Michael is electrifying! We get a glimpse of a true genius at work. His passionate message for healing the world, saving the planet and our children's futures is something he was always striving for in his lifetime."

So far Katherine Jackson is unmoved -- we hear she will not see the movie.

The people behind "This Is It" are furious over reports that the Michael Jackson featured in the movie is a body double -- claiming those reports are "pure garbage."

The controversy began earlier this month after Joe Jackson claimed the media was going to "tear this movie apart" -- and insisted it was "mostly body doubles."

But a rep from Sony -- co-producers of the flick -- tells TMZ, "This story is pure garbage and there are no body doubles.

Audiences will begin to see the film tomorrow and every time they see The King of Pop they will know that every frame is unquestionably Michael as he rehearses and prepares for the London concerts that were to have begun this past summer."

Michael Jackson's Throne and Crown To Go on Display in O2 Exhibition
October 26

The bling-packed exhibition of fantastic treasures also includes an oil painting of the star dressed as a king and a triptych of canvases of the singer showing him being crowned, knighted and holding a magical sword.

Michael Jackson, The Official Exhibition opens to the public on Wednesday at the O2 Bubble - just yards from where the singer announced his ill-fated comeback This Is It concerts earlier this year.

As some of Jackson's best-known hits are piped through the building, visitors can wander around a regal archway with a crown and crest, used to welcome guests to Jackson's fairytale Neverland ranch.

Beneath it stands Jackson's 1967 Rolls-Royce Phantom, which was used by the singer and his close friend Dame Elizabeth Taylor to go for spins around Los Angeles.

Space-age items such as a rocket ship used in Jackson's Leave Me Alone video also feature, as well as a carousel-style rocking horse which was a gift from Dame Elizabeth to the singer.

The saddle of the horse is inscribed: ''To MJ love ET''.

The display will open to the public on Wednesday, just hours after Jackson's This Is It film - the documentary of the singer's final months as he rehearsed for his string of comeback gigs - premieres around the world.

The O2 display opens with an original Jackson Five contract and features an array of his signature jewelled gloves.

The collection also lifts the lid on how Jackson perfected some of his much-copied stage moves, including a pair of shoes designed by the singer with part of the heel cut out, enabling him to lean further forward while performing Smooth Criminal.

Also among the collection is a signed letter from former US president Ronald Reagan dated 1984, sending Jackson good wishes following his accident when his hair caught fire while shooting a commercial.

Mr Reagan told Jackson: ''I was pleased to learn that you were not seriously hurt in your recent accident.''

The former actor continued: ''I know from experience that these things can happen on the set - no matter how much caution is exercised.''

He told Jackson: ''All over America, millions of people look up to you as an example ... You've gained quite a number of fans along the road since I Want You Back and Nancy and I are among them.''

Reporters were offered a glimpse into the exhibition on Monday, as a new album of the singer's music, titled This Is It, was released.

Jackson died in June aged 50, just weeks before his 50-date comeback concerts were due to start at the O2.

The two-disc record contains songs included in a documentary film of the same name about the singer, which will have simultaneous premieres around the world later this week.

The first album disc boasts the original album masters of some of Jackson's biggest hits, arranged in the same sequence as they appear in the film.

The second disc contains previously-unreleased versions of some of the artist's classic tracks and a ''touching'' spoken word poem titled Planet Earth.

The public appetite for Jackson's back catalogue has seen many of the singer's best-known hits rocket back up the charts following his death.

Not sure Joe and La Toya are interested in 'UFOs' or 'imminent alien invasion'. Hey we all know tabloids are tabloids, but these are genuine quotes from his father and sister. They have been multiple sourced.

Yeah seems to be two strong camps about this movie. Apparently his hardcore US fans are boycotting it and are going to protest outside cinemas on wednesday. They have said it is an unfair portrayal of his last days, that he really was too sick to go on.

All very tragic regardless of whats the truth.

Call me nuts or whatever! but some of the shit surrounding his death still is not adding up.

all this talk of stand ins and body doubles is curious.

I have to admit, I admit to having watched some of these conspiracy videos about his death, and some of them do have some valid points.

For starters, at the funeral, there is a massive blimp light in the air, and this same blimp light is seen during the rehearsals, and the exact same cameras used to film the rehearsals can be seen filming the funeral too, and thats excluding the aerial cameras. The whole funeral did give off some weird vibe!

and the body itself being dragged into the helicopter seems to shrink into a flat piece when its taken out and put into the van!

crazy shit is going on!

I think the whole death story is completely made up. MJ was sick of his public life and image and just found a way to get rid off us and his depts - by claiming he's dead he KNEW record sales would rise again.

MJ can only win: Nobody will ever molest him, and he will make money without working ever again.

And if someone WOULD see him, they still can say it was an impersonator or sth.

okay, let's be realistic.

what do all those snippets and puzzle-performances (made up by bits and pieves from several rehearsals) tell us:

MJ obviously had problems performing a whole song. Or why couldn't they just use ONE take?

Doesn't this bug some of you?

At least the band was live (and sounding good), but to be fair, I would never expect Jacko to do that song live.

Still, the whole thing (not just that clip) has a Vegasy feel which I dont like. I know Mike did not like his time in Vegas but as some will agree, this tour was about money and thus I never expected it to be anything raw or new. I know that clip he was just rehearsing, so who knows? But it smacks of Vegas bigtime!
