Anywhoo! when Michael performed "Man In The Mirror" live it was a extremely emotional experience. I almost forgot how to breathe when I watched it for the first time.

One is the track with the original (or mostly original) instrumentation, the other is an "orchestral" version with a string section added.

They're not all that different.

The Africa-crowning thing is sth the media reported because it's funny, but in fact, MJ didn't have the impact on Africa's nations than he had in Europe pr America.

This SHOULD be sarcastic but it's unfortunately true: Many Africans have other problems than whether or not they own Thriller deluxe or sth. Even if they've heard Billie Jean on the radio, they're not FANS!

Michael was huge in Africa

for example:

Michael had 27 Top 10 singles in Zimbabwe, 12 being #1. Off The Wall, Thriller, Bad, Dangerous, and HIStory were all #1 albums

He had more than 10 Top 10 singles in South Africa where Thriller, Bad, and Dangerous were #1 also


The Jackson 5 did a very celebrated weeklong tour in Senegal in 1974. A documentary was made and archived (It was on Youtube but taken down. It was shown at a film festival a couple of months ago)

Granted, he hadn't released much in the last few years but if he had, it would have been on heavy rotation. The Michael Jackson memorial DVD (granted, it was bootleg) was being sold in Nigeria, in the last few months. Same with his CDs. All bootleg but the interest was definitely there.

About two months ago, someone already posted this thread in this forum. It's about the influence Mike had on Nigerian artists in the '80s. Some of the artists even changed their names to sound like Mike's, for example, Moses Jackson and Michael Eborson.

When he passed, African fans mourned along with those in other parts of the world and even though there are problems, it doesn't mean we don't have time for great music. The music industry is currently thriving in many parts of Africa.

When he passed, there were quite a few tributes done in his honor.

But I can only speak for Nigeria and Ivory Coast as those are the countries I've lived in. But I suspect it's similar in other countries.

With basketball, you have stats and numbers. With dancing, it's subjective. MJ was graced with two things: being able to dance, and also a dancer's body. Someone can try and try to get his moves down pat and still won't look as good as MJ did because they just don't have the form.

Usher is really a great dancer, but I really wouldn't put him up against MJ at his best. To me, MJ got better as the years went on. During the HIStory tour.. I mean, those Billie Jean segments were insane.

Even in 2002 when he did Dangerous on American Bandstand he looked in pretty good form. So far of the little clips from This Is It, he's not doing any true all-out dancing, but during the little military-like rehearsal and his short little freestyle at the beginning of The Way You Make Me Feel, he looked like he still had the rhythm in him.

To me, as much as I like Usher as a dancer, he's not stood out from the pack, really. He can dance like James Brown and MJ a bit, but to me, both of them did it better, and they did it first. I would probably even put Prince above Usher. I can't really explain it, the other three just seem more organic as dancers.

*Also, when I saw the "Yeah" video, I thought "Rock With You 2k".
