Why do most people say the R&B charts don't matter?

I never understood why so many people say that confused I always thought it matters just as much as the other charts do.

Back in the late 80s, I hated that R&B artists concerned themselves with trying to make it to the pop chart because in the early 80s when they could care less about being on the pop chart, their music was much harder and funkier because they weren't weakening and watering it down for pop audiences.

The R&B chart did matter to me back then because I could care less about the pop chart. Nowadays though, neither the R&B nor the pop chart means nothing to me because both of them are a shit hop mess. These days, I hate to see any of my favorite artists even on either of the charts (such as Prince who is still recording) and I hate to see them even try to get on the charts. Why? Because only bullshit makes the charts and if by chance a good song slips and makes it on the charts, then the artist will start weakening their future music in an attempt to please a bunch of dull dead ass motherfuckers who don't like the artist anyway.

charts are merely a reflection of commercial success... if the charts aren't important, then commercial success isn't important.

Because Music in the grand scheme of things now DOES NOT MATTER anymore. It is not relevant to the anything anymore, its not even background anymore, its not even "the fries" with your meal anymore, its more of just an afterthought. Its lost its importance to the majority, it sold its soul plain and simple and its not smart enough to know how to get it back. You will soon see charts or at least Billboard magazine disappear, magazines arent even relevant anymore.

What is the percentage of most people?
The R&b charts used to matter back then but not now.
Hip Hop really isn't quality music today, that is
why so many artist are sampling old school tracks to try to make it sound better.
A stupid man’s report of what a clever man says can never be accurate, because he unconciously translates what he hears into something he can understand.

all the charts and soundscan stuff has hurt music imo, we got fans tracking first week sales like they work for the labels now. there was a time when we didnt know how much an album was selling, somebody could have an album out 3 months before reaching #1 on the charts.these days if an album is not a hit right out the box its pretty much dead.
