Like them or not U2 stays ahead of the curve bringing music to fans.

I just got this in e-mail today.

Rather than shun the way millions of people are getting introduced to music, U2 seems to embrace it. Allowing people to record and distribute shows if they give away the recordings and now, they are filming the show professionally and streaming it for free on youtube.

They seem to have realized, their shows sell out, there is no more money to be made on tickets and their fans will buy this DVD when it hits, so they are giving it out for free as it happens. Very cool.

Dear Mars,

As a U2.com subscriber, we wanted you to be first with some breaking news - this Sunday the band's 360° Show at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena will be filmed for a dvd.

As they're drafting in more cameras to create a great film, the band has decided to allow it to be streamed live on YouTube.

It'll be officially announced later today but at 8.30pm (PT) on Sunday, wherever you are in the world don't miss the chance to see the show live and uninterrupted online.

As well as being able to watch the show, we'll bring our subscribers news as the week progresses from our video reporter on the ground. We'll also have bulletins from Director Tom Krueger and other exclusive video footage from backstage over the weekend.

Stay tuned, should be quite a night...

best wishes,
The U2.Com Team

Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it.

The 360 tour has been amazing. It is something to see as you said, even just as a music fan. You don't have to like U2 to appreciate what they accomplished with this show.

I saw 360 in Glasgow . . . over rated. Lights, effects, big stage etc should be used to season the music. The music should be the main meal, not the seasoning.

Because P is not pulling down the money that U2 is pulling in. They can afford to give this stuff away for free. In addtion, they still have the support of a major record label.

And people should support music no matter if it is free or not. Some of you folks are down right cheap straitght out and do not want to pay for anything.

Exactly right - Prince is missing huge opportunities to expand his fanbase and keep his existing fans happy and excited. His stance towards YouTube is ridiculous, he's only hurting himself in the end by limiting his exposure.

That's how you get new fans, and rekindle the interest of old fans who might surf YouTube, watch oldies like LRC and WDC, and wonder, "hey, wonder if Prince's new album is any good? Maybe I should check it out."

U2 is one of the most fan-friendly bands around and that loyalty to the fans only breeds devotion back to them and that translate into a large and loyal fanbase.

he's not making any money off of it if he doesn't release it either. so what's your point? or do you even have one anymore? i think you're just on autopilot at this stage in your org career.

No i dont buy into the money thing at all with Prince. Its more about ego with Prince especially, he has never followed the lead on any issues like this. I mean if it was about money he would have pulled a Pearl Jam and released every concert for sale when he tours, but the difference Prince owns nothing, he doesnt own his music at all, U2 own their masters and yes so do pearl jam, both can pull things like sellling every concert on cd like pearl jam did, some people said it was flooding the market, no actually, it KILLED the bootleggers because PJ beat them to it.

Prince has serious ego issues with things like this, the money is there to be made, its a no brainer, i mean if he released a dvd of all his unreleased videos his fans will buy it, he's always held these things back because thats the way he is, and thats how he has always been, wont change, at this point i know he isnt gonna open the vault, and quite frankly hearing alot of that "vault" that shit needs to remain sealed.

nod I agree.Prince doesn't make it "fun" to follow his career anymore. He could be doing so many cool things right now (live DVDs,more collections of outtakes, remastered CDs with bonus tracks, etc),but he refuses to do so.

He owns him music from Emancipation on and as much as people on this board bitch about everything from 96 on would there even be an audience for any of this material? It really does not matter because I still say P ain't in U2's income bracket to give anything away for free and some of you guys are just cheap (LOL)>

IIRC its the largest ever? Bigger than the Stones last stage-set they had. Plus the music, this is going to be badass. U2 are in my top 3 fav artists.

NOT SURE if this was pointed in my direction of NOT ... but - i will say that MY point was - Prince is too talented to NOT let stuff get out there - I am a U2 fan also (slightly) but i dont think U2 is more talented than Prince - however they are kicking his ass in getting new fans and staying relevant in this musical age ...

I remember a certain bootleg i was given - i gave it to a friend of mine who took it home to listen to it - and guess what - she played it for her husband and he sent it to 4 others .... long story - they all loved it ! and said why isnt stuff like that being shown more ??? why is it not out there where I can buy it or see it ???(and none of these people were org members ....or had an org career like u i suppose i should say )

sometimes i go on youtube just to listen to music ... as i work ... i pop up a song and "minimize the screen" and just let it go ... you cant do that with Prince songs ... pfff ... its silly really ...

oh i guess i could be a Prince-bot and subscribe to lotusflower and listen to ALOT OF PRINCE STUFF ... confused
