I love this album.. thanks for posting.

Oh no, not the early-20s again.

It's about time they got back to remastering the Cure catalog.

I'm really not a Cure fan, but I do like most of this album. I also like Mixed Up.

Otherwise, they annoy me.

This is getting the giant treatment it deserves. For my money, Disintegration is one of the best five albums ever made.

I'm going to cry.

I would love some new material. Supposedly this year he was going to release the 2nd disc that was recorded at the same time as the last one, not sure what's going on w/ that... the 2nd disc was supposed to be much more dark and melancholy.

yeah i enjoyed 4:13 Dream much better than the self-titled LP. I think the vocals were mixed WAY too high and the songs didn't do much for me. There were a few I liked, but 4:13 Dream was consistently better IMHO.

That said, I still think their last great album was Bloodflowers, and another album in that vein would make me a very happy Curefan.

robert mentioned that Bloodflowers was the third instalment of a trilogy of that
dark Cure sound...the trilogy beeing(Pornography,disintegration,and Bloodflowers"

but back to The album at hand (disintegration)...the title track is such a poetic peice...When they would rock this live in the 90's with the tempo on overdrive, it realy made me appreciate it more...

my favorite disintegration track is the same deep water is you. i can really lose myself in that song, so gorgeous.


and yeah, i agree w/ Going Nowhere, definitely one of the best on that album.

I can't get into their newer albums honestly. I must have listened to their self titled album once before selling it. Never even bothered to buy the last one. I called it a day with them with the last greatest hits comp. Love 80s Cure though.

Does anyone remember the first time they listend to it? Did Plainsong's beginning scare the shit out of you and wash over you/take you in as it did me? I remember reading the liner notes saying to "play this loud." Plainsong did to me what that old Maxwell cassette tapes ad did to that guy sitting in that chair.

I remember requesting it on my local college radio station. The DJ played it, and afterwards he said "and that's Plainsong by the Cure, and wow... what a Plain song. It was named very well." I was so pissed!!!

It took me several listens for 4:13 Dream to finally hold interest, but now I kinda like it. It's nowhere near their best work, but its does have a few good tunes.

The problem I have w/ The Cure now is that it's been 8 years since they've really proven there is a continued reason for their existence, at least from a recording standpoint. They are doing nothing but retreading past glories. Things like "Taking Off" has already been written and recorded several times before, and better (in between days, friday i'm in love, etc..) The Cure seems to have a particular formula these days of the types of songs that are required for their albums. Although I like 4:13 Dream, it's almost like... The Cure doing what they think a Cure album should have, if that makes any sense... didn't seem particular original or inspired or new on any level.

But maybe it's just me...
