And everyone knows Michael was motivated by Rhythm Nation. He was supposed to work with Teddy Riley on Bad but it fell through. Michael heard Rhythm Nation and New Edition's Heartbreak album and called Teddy because it was time for work

But a couple of songs for the album like Black Or White, Who Is It, Gone Too Soon, Dangerous, Give In To Me, Heal The World, and Will You Be There were already in their early stages when Michael and Teddy got together

I actually think they have their own little battles like who can out do the other. I know that MJ was inspired by Janet's live performances as well. You know how MJ would bring a girl on stage on the History tour and the security would drag that girl off stage. Janet did that on her janet. tour back in 1993 :



MJ wanted to work with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis ( I wonder why....) for his Dangerous LP but they were devoted on Janet's upcoming project (janet.) so they kindly declined and he picked that other producer.

yeah he wanted to work with Jimmy and Terry but they were busy, but the album was nearly done by the time he contacted them (around mid '91) which was also around the time he contacted Babyface and LA Reid (which caused a 2 year rift between he and Jermaine)

Dangerous was done mostly by Michael, Teddy Riley, and Bill Bottrell but he recorded tracks with LaFace, Bryan Loren, Stevie, and he was going to work with Jazzy B from Soul II Soul but that didn't happen

Oh they definitely were competitive with each other. They always used each other's moves in videos and live. Michael would play The Knowledge, Miss You Much, and Rhythm Nation when he would do his all day home rehearsals
