NYE date for Michael
Pop star George Michael (right) plans to tour Australia in January.
Promoters are finalising talks with Michael for shows in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
The negotiations include a proposed outdoor show on New Year's Eve in Sydney or Melbourne.
Michael's tour, 25 Live, is a greatest hits set that features songs from his solo career and former pop duo, Wham.
The tour will mark Michael's first Australian shows in 21 years. In recent years Michael, 46, has been arrested several times for drug possession, but this tour has won rave reviews.
