Living Colour anyone??

I went to their show a couple days ago in San Francisco and they were AMAZING!!!! I haven't bought the new cd but they played some songs from it and it's not bad. I know I've always heard negative things about Stain and Collideøscope (and the few tunes I heard weren't so hot). I grew up with them being played around the house, I even played "Information Overload" from Time's Up as an audition on the drums(Will Calhoun is one of my fave drummers). Is anyone still digging them besides me? PS, if their tour stops near you, GO!!!!

I watched them on Late Night w/ Jimmy Fallon. I wasn't impressed. Later that evening, I tweeted: "So @livingcolour was on @jimmyfallon & @vurnt22 couldn't look more bored & uninspired. Sorry Vernon were we interrupting your personal time?"

Vurnt22 is Vernon's twitter. Strangely, I got a reply the next day from Vernon:
"Not at all Ernest. I was concentrating on not screwing up the tapping sequence on Behind The Sun. Could've smiled more though."

Fair enough. I still didn't dig the song, but I do recognize their talent.

Sidenote: A fellow Prince fan, Anil Dash (whom some of you know), was in the audience BEHIND the band and could be seen somewhere behind Vernon throughout the performance.

I've been listening to Living Colour since the first day "Vivid" came out. I had read about them somewhere and took a chance on the album.

I went to all their shows (even got backstage at one of them) when they were in town or close to where I live (mostly club shows, and I got to see them open for the Rolling Stones) and I met Will Calhoun at a drum clinic at one of the music stores here in town when "Stain" was out.

I bought their new CD "The Chair in the Doorway" last week. I like it better than "Collideoscope", and it reminds me of some of their earlier stuff on "Vivid" and "Time's Up". I hope they do a full US tour on this one and not just a few shows here and there.

Saw that performance 2day. Believe me, he was concentrating at the show I saw but he made sure 2 smile (thanks 2 u possibly, lol). That's not the best new song they have, they have some new good ones for sure. At least you recognize their talents, some people can't do that!!

Thats awesome how you found out about them!! Your so lucky you met Will, he is a beast behind the kit!! I have to grab the new album still. If they did a full out tour I'd mos def see them again, I wanna be like you & go 2 all the shows (and get backstage somehow) lol.

Love LC.
Been a fan since Vivid.
Their new CD is really good. I'm thinking though if you a hardcore fan it's a no brainer. If you are a casual fan you maybe like... it's ok.
I like it. I also liked Colideoscope and Stain so they're ya go.

nod Been rockin' out to them since their debut. VR is a beast -- and I tend to like his jazzy stuff better. Heard him on a public radio "name that artist" jazz show, about a year or two ago. They were talking about his rock-jazz approach and how his work was likely the best snapshot of the future of jazz. eek

Everyone in that band is a straight-up cold musician. disbelief

A friend of mine got me into them about 6 months ago. Loved all their albums, Stain wasn't that much to my liking, but Nothingness & Bi and a few others are great songs! Bi, they they played on Friday BTW smile I love Flying (about 9/11) and Tomorrow Never Knows on Collideoscope and a few other songs, but I have to say...The Chair in the Doorway (new album) is excellent! Very much impressed with it! For a long standing band like Living Colour, every song is great and the lyrics are incredibly inspired, more than what Prince is putting out right now. To anyone, I'd recommend downloading BEHIND THE SUN. I guarantee you like it, or I'll buy you a drink...if you're a pretty lady, I may buy you two! IF you are casual fan, just buy the album, $10 at Amazon...seriously...got nothing to lose and all to gain.

They are a great live band, funny how Corey was wearing a butcher's outfit! Whats great about Friday nite is that RIGHT after the show, you got to talk, hug, shake hands and get your ticket or shirt signed by them ALL!! No other artist/band whose shows I've gone to has ever done that. Appreciation for fans that have stuck in there for years and just GET THEM and their music!! That appreciation for ya! Hell even Fishbone did it!

Oh last thing, they played like 3/4 of their NEW album IN ORDER!!!! That really shows integrity as artists. Means they stand behind their new material, another lesson I wish Prince would learn. Just play more new stuff or obscure stuff, I love Purple Rain man, but you have hundreds of great songs you can be playing instead.

They are a great live band & I'll be sure to get the album (and the other ones I let slip by for some stupid reason)!! I like that they back their album up. Goes to show they do what they feel and have no doubt in what they create.

I wished I coulda stayed to get my drum stick signed but my mom was like "let's go" and she drove so I had to follow, lmao. Thats awesome that after pouring their hearts out they stayed to do stuff for the fans, I heart those type of artist. The butcher outfit was dope, I wish I thought of it, haha. And I feel you, Prince has soooo many great songs he can pull outta his hat!!

THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO HAS REPLIED. SO HAPPY TO SEE LC GET SOME LOVE BECAUSE THEY ARE AWESOME!!!! I DON'T HAVE FRIENDS WHO I CAN RELATE TO IN CERTAIN MUSIC, LOL.
