My favorite is "Breathe Again". I just love the sentiment of that song. On a related note, the remix to it, done by R.Kelly is the shit. It is the only thing by Kelly that I really like.

R. Kelly remixed "How Many Ways," not "Breathe Again." He did incorporate it into his remix of "I Can't Sleep Baby (If I)":

That whole album is one of the most near-perfect pop/R&B CDs ever produced. It was like a breath of fresh air in music at that time.

In the movie, "Boomerang", Halle yelled at Eddie, "if you loved me, love should've brought your black ass home last night!" lol That was shown at the beginning of the video where Eddie tried telling Halle he loved her, lol

I'm a 70's and 80's kid, but yes...the kids from the 90's had a very, VERY different kind of music to listen to. It was often over produced and echoey. Toni's CD was one of the more restrained albums.

lol I was 8 with the high top, by 10, it had indeed shorten. lol I never wore "baggy jeans", I don't think, it was either shorts during spring/summer time, or jeans that didn't drop below your waist (or corduroys and slacks, lol). My favorite jacket pre-Toni was a Corvette leather jacket, post-Toni, it was those slick blue jackets. cool

That's it right there lol. Ya know I always thought Face had 2 sides to his sound depending on who he was writing/producing for. I used 2 wonder when he was writing/producing 4 TLC, Damian Dame, and Bobby Brown did 'Face rock a leather jacket,some Karl Kani gear,and Fila's in the studio, but when he wrote 4 Toni B, Whitney Houston, and "Waiting To Exhale" did he wear one of his trademark suits? he he

Believe it or not, Jermaine Dupri did the club remix of Breathe Again.

Tim and Ted did the Extended mix and the Breathless mix.

It was this version that I was referring to. For some reason,I thought it was a Kelly production. This is my favorite version.

While they were all extremely successful, all of the album's singles fell short of topping the R&B charts.

1. Love Shoulda Brought You Home #4
2. Another Sad Love Song #2
3. Breathe Again #4
4. Seven Whole Days #1 Airplay (probably would've reached #1 if it had been commercially released in the US)
5. You Mean the World to Me #3
6. I Belong to You/How Many Ways #6

From wikipedia:
Her new single "Yesterday" premiered on September 11, 2009. The album is now expected to be released in February 2010. The song is produced by DJ Frank E and has been released on September 18, 2009, being the first single released by Toni Braxton under Atlantic Records. It debuted at #96 on the R&B chart.

Toni Braxton announced in a live webcast on the 17th of September 2009, that her album will feature 12 songs, and that it might include some of the leaked songs.

-----

It's not like she hasn't released albums over time either:
* Toni Braxton (1993)
* Secrets (1996)
* The Heat (2000)
* More Than a Woman (2002)
* Libra (2005)
* Pulse (2010)

This and these two are my favourites from the album. I love it.
Why don´t we get this type of music nowadays.

AutoTune, that's why. Every nobody with a sex tape, reality show, and a few pictures in a magazine can record an album now. Some stupid 21 year old hatchet wound gets out there and talks about how "this album is all me, it's personal, I wrote all the songs." Oh please, you jotted some words down on your Hello Kitty note pad. That is NOT writing a song.

Toni was raw talent, who proved she had the chops to sing, she promoted the shit out of herself, and her label backed her in that regard (yes we know about the bad contract, bankruptcy, etc etc...not the point). Britney has proven she can lip sync like a MFer, but it ends there.

When you have nobodies like Paris Hilton, Heidi Montag, & countless other skanks with the money to buy their own record deal, the industry as a whole suffers. The quality drops, and the status quo of what to expect from an artist changes. When Toni came out, we still expected good music from an artist. And most times, we got it. Now we just expect crap, because we know that's what the big labels are trying to feed everyone. It's why most people here have said over and over, including myself, "I don't listen to radio". There's a reason for that, most of which I've stated above. I swear I could write a book on the past 30 years in radio. That'd be a fun and interesting study.

I miss this kind of quality too. I miss it in Prince's music, I miss it in music over all. I think that's why a lot of us find indie artists to latch onto, or people like Jill Scott, India.Arie, or even Living Colour. We KNOW how high the bar used to be set. It wasn't impossible, it was just higher, and better. Artists these days are tripping over the bar, instead of reaching up to it.
