I always thought the intro to this song was genius (...how they ran through the first guitar riff with reverb, then ran through the riff the second time dry). I bought this song on 45 when it first came out, and played it to death! I still have it too. I remember my Grandmother giving me dirty looks when I played it because she thought I was too focused on money, rather than spiritual matters (...guess she really wasn't paying attention to the lyrics as much as the title). May she be resting peacefully.

I was getting my hair rebraided
the other night & New Jack City was coming on BET... the opening credits feature the remake of this by Queen Latifah & Levert and I noticed how similar to the original they kept the music (minus the new jack swing) I always loved this song (The O'Jays version) because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."
