Jess, seriously. You get all defensive when people start hating on your monthly Britney threads. If you hate that so much, why must you click on every Gaga thread and shit all over it? You don't like her, we get it. A lot of people don't like her. No one is forcing you to do it. But is it truly - and I mean TRULY necessary for you to shit all over people's threads? shrug

I don't get defensive and I don't make monthly threads lol I correct people when they sprout untrue stuff from tabloids. At least Britney's actually managed to survive 11 years in the industry. She's had the biggest tour of 09, a #1 album and a #1 single - that's pretty good for someone who had a mental breakdown just one year ago. Praise where praise is due. When Gaga comes out with a decent song, I'll praise it. Pokerface's chorus is good, the verse grate on me. Paparazzi is an okay song but the video is vile. I hate Britney's latest album and latest single (Radar). I hated If U Seek Amy, too. And Womanizer. Circus is the only single I've liked from Brit this time around. I made the "singing live" thread because, well, she finally sung live and sounded good. It turned into a thread about goddamn Beyonce singing live. mad

I wouldn't dare compare any of these women to someone like Cyndi Lauper, btw.

But is it really necessary to go into every thread and hate on Gaga?

i notice how only the white girls are mentioned as the 'princesses or queens of pop', its like the black audience dont matter

It would help black people had good language.

The reason I didn't mention black artists is cause Black music isn't considered Pop. Only Michael Jackson is really considered Pop. Even Prince isn't. I went to a store and they still consider him an R&B artist although he makes Rock,Dance, and is played on Pop stations.

Before 2000 black artists weren't considered Pop. It wasn't till Beyonce and Usher and the new little B#K groups that blacks were considered Pop. Even Janet is(was) considered the Princess Of Pop recently. Back in the 80s we just called them R&B. Pop is usually light smiley cheesy tunes. Not something I would associate with black people.

SO withthat way ofthinking Beyonce is not really in the rest of the group with Brittney,Christina, and Gwen. Oh I forgot RIhanna. Is she really big anough to be a Pop heavyweight?

So under the new method I guess we have to include Beyonce and Rihanna on the list too.
Working up a purple sweat.

I don't. lol

I'm just sick of people comparing her to greats of the industry when she's only been around for, what, two years?

I don't even compare Britney or Beyonce to any greats or give them some superior title, I just take them as they are.

Even Prince interpolated the song into his live cover of Gnarls Barkley's 'Crazy' when performing at the O2.

i heard this on a commercial or something but i never knew who was singin it, sorry but they dont play this stuff on the stations i listen to, i think i heard it on mtv cribs

pull up a chair, you'll be waiting awhile

IMO, she is not original at all and I can't see how she has risen this far. Wait...yes I can. doh! dunce

Her VMA performance was a cross between Like A Virgin and Alice Cooper biting the head off of a snake. It's all been done before ad nauseum. Grace Jones looked a gazillion times better in her outrageous cotumes. Gaga is trying too damned hard to appear "different" and succeeding at looking like a clown.

Did anyone else hear the audience kinda gasp in shock/disgust when the blood appeared on Gaga? Like so much so she looked down like "what?" then realised it was just the blood then smeared it everywhere.

it's funny to see how many people don't like her and for what reasons.
pop music needed someone like her, badly.

i think she's fun. she's different, in a good way.

it also amazes me how many people like boring middle of the road shit
and when someone who does things differently comes along all you guys
have to say is:

"copy cat. it's all been done before. it's so fake" blahblah

but when i look at her i see someone who's doing what she likes to do,
and not someone who's being weird just to be weird. there are people
who actually enjoy being different, not because it rubs people but just
because they love 'different' stuff.

if i were in her shoes i would do the same damn thing and enjoy it all
the way. just think of how boring it must be to have a nice clean and
wholesome image and be on stage night after night just standing there
in your best outfit singing a song.

zzz

besides, how can people still be disturbed over her stage show when you
look rock n roll shows. stuff that went on in the 70s was far more wild
than this and far more shocking.

and after having prince's bare ass and a while later marylin manson's
thrust into our faces, i think gaga is doing pretty classy stuff

lol

lastly, for those dumping on the lyrics, the lyrics are just fine. it's
pop music. it's not folk or anything. and for a pop record the lyrics
are actually pretty deep. papparazi is a good lyric, a very good one as
far as social commentary goes. i consider it to be miles above prince's
recent efforts like "dear mr man" *snooze/cringe*

Well-said~!!! I agree 100%.

I knew Dance Music was big but no artist has ever gotten play like this one. Lady Gaga is being treated royally. SHe not only performed at The Mtv VMAs(US)
she also got awarded. I don't know how big her tour is but she's getting treated like Gwen,Pink,Christinna, and Brittney.

So I want to know will GaGa be the next reigning Princess Of Pop or will she even overtake the queen and throw Madonna off the throne?

I think she has potential....

nod She's nothing new. Been there, done that...Bjork has her beat hands down in the out-there department. I just don't get what the big deal is. I don't hate her, because what's to hate really? She copies from soo many better artists that to hate her would be like hating them. Kinda hard to hate on an unoriginal artist nowadays unless they really are talentless and she's got some talent underneath the hot mess that is her image. I hope she gets out of this stupid schtick for her next album because the Lady Gaga image is really what turns me off about her to be totally honest.

I mean, I got the one "comeback" (American, I know she's reigned Pop overseas for decades) album with "Can't get you out of my head". And I liked it ok, but it fell off my itunes rotation.
I didn't like "Locomotion" even when I was a mere itty bitty homo. boxed
