If on the next album she loses the plastic production and actually finds something interesting to sing about, I might care a little.

She's been the only person to turn up in the last 20 years who I think is the real deal and might have some longivity.

Her originality is refreshing and her tunes are catchy. She may be a little polished and commercial, but so was Madonna with Like a Virgin.

Some of you lot sound like my parents in 85. "Madonna!? She'll never last. Weak plastic pop.....its all image and not music...she's just corting controversy.....blar blar blar"

lol

WARNING: This homo is about to blaspheme.

I never got into Kylie. boxed
I mean, I got the one "comeback" (American, I know she's reigned Pop overseas for decades) album with "Can't get you out of my head". And I liked it ok, but it fell off my itunes rotation.
I didn't like "Locomotion" even when I was a mere itty bitty homo. boxed

Maybe I need like a good intro "mix tape" to get me to appreciate her. shrug

Jess, seriously. You get all defensive when people start hating on your monthly Britney threads. If you hate that so much, why must you click on every Gaga thread and shit all over it? You don't like her, we get it. A lot of people don't like her. No one is forcing you to do it. But is it truly - and I mean TRULY necessary for you to shit all over people's threads? shrug

I have no problem with her, but with the comparisons. Let artists shine on their own without the urge to force a desperately sought title to their talent and in order to make them more relevant (imho) cool

Beyoncé comes very close to the title of Princess Of Pop. It's not just about having popular songs though, it's about having a "pop" aesthetic. Destiny's Child were very much marketed as an Urban act. The group won Grammy awards in the R&B categories - not in any Pop category.

I don't think Beyoncé became "pop" until she went solo. You know... Dressing-up as a robot on stage... Acting in crappy movies... Having singles produced by Scandinavian hit factories like the Stargate team... etcetera.

In any case, Madonna has been active since 1982, Kylie since 1988 and Beyoncé has only been a household name since 1997.

p.s. I realise that Kylie is almost a non-entity in the U.S., but everywhere else in the world she fulfills the criteria as Princess Of Pop to Madonna's Queen. Madonna said so herself.

Lady Gaga tries too hard to be different, and it comes off as trying too hard...hey, here's an idea....(!)...create great music instead.
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

You would have had to have lived on the moon not to have heard this, a few years ago.

Even Prince interpolated the song into his live cover of Gnarls Barkley's 'Crazy' when performing at the O2.

I like the music and I like the outfits...But is it only me who thinks her music and her outfits do not match? I mean she is making very conventional dance pop, and it is just not over the top enough to accomodate the look.
