During a CNBC interview on Monday, President Obama called hip-hop artist Kanye West a "jackass" over his behavior at the MTV Video Music Awards. (Watch video of Kanye at the VMAs here.)

Obama's colorful remark was actually made in an off-the-record portion of the interview that was tweeted -- and then deleted -- by ABC News reporter Terry Moran.

"Pres. Obama just called Kanye West a 'jackass' for his outburst at VMAs when Taylor Swift won. Now THAT'S presidential," Moran wrote.

Politico's Michael Calderone has ABC's statement apologizing for Moran's journalistic breach.

He was overheard saying this in a chat with someone else. It was supposed to be off the record and thus, not reported. Politically speaking, I don't think it's a bad look for him at all. He is showing a human side, while looking like his trust was violated or whatever. There should be consequences for the reporter, however.

I wish a reporter would "leak" what was overheard about Joe Wilson. (especially by Rahm or Michelle lol) Oh and, I do still love me some Kanye. I can't help it. lol

I'm glad he did and I hope he does more of it. And in a way, it is political. The ignorance of the shit hoppers have influenced a generation to idolize people who act stupid, uneducated, and thuggish, disrespectul, and violent. I loved it when he won and the kids started admiring this educated black man in a suit instead of the rediculous negative images (not to mention, extremely dull) since the early 1990s. Unlike Daddy Bush who was an old fuddy dud who spoke out against Ice T in the early 1990s, Obama is a president who is considered cool and hip so when he says something shitty about a particular shit hopper, people will listen. And if it helps to kill shit hop in the process...oh well. I want them to do more to hang themselves.
