Bedtime Stories wrecked Madonnas great album run along with Michaels Invincible wrecking his.

"Heroes" goes between Low and Lodger.
I'm a bit skeptic on some of the "best 5 album arcs" on this thread though.

'Nuff said. I will add: Off The Wall, Thriller, Bad, Dangerous, HIStory. Probably would've had Donny Hathaway here if he had been around a little longer. Though if you count the Roberta Flack duet albums, I guess you can add him. [Edited 9/11/09 5:54am]

If I'd have to pick the very best 5 album arc then it would be Prince's five albums released between 1982-1988 ("1999" - "Lovesexy"), Bowie would have an amazing from "Hunky Dory" to "Heroes" were there not "Pin-ups" sandwiched between there (and "Young Americans" isn't that great either).
That's for the pop / rock -stuff though. Jazz, electronic, experimental, industrial etc. would have to be judged by completely different standards.
