I guess we will just have to agree to disagree. I think 1814, is her most overrated CD, to date. Most of the dance tracks sound the same. Its really the ballads which stick out

Control and Rhythmn Nation were once in a lifetime albums. Janet was a step back but not a total wash. She rebounded greatly with Velvet Rope. Don't laugh at my funk

I think alot of the material is pretty weak. This album became much more lauded after his death, and I think that had alot to do w/ his sudden acclaim. Jimmy's praise was probably what made me bother to take notice. I loved it for awhile but have to say I can't remember the last time I listened to it.

I love the Control and Rhythm Nation albums. The "janet." album was horrible to me, well not horrible, but I could have done without it with the exceptions of "If", "Thats The Way Love Goes", "You Want This", "Again" and "Any time, any place". Without those songs, I wouldn't even give that album a second listen. Velvet Rope is awesome too, but can't hold a candle to Rhythm Nation.

My favorite is "Control", after that, she because a spokes person for the hearing impaired. I don't see how RN was predictable in fact it was the complete opposite - who would have thought after 'control' janet would do a socially conscious album? I think RN maybe overrated by her fans but not by the general public. It is all killer - no filler - the top 5 7 singles support that!

Thank you. And how dare they say that Thriller & Purple Rain are overrated?!? Now THIS is overrated: I still like Smells Like Teen Spirit when it play at a certain point of any party. But THAT^ album as a whole is partly responsible to why rock & roll isn't fun today.

Anxiety said: NDRU said: It does have maybe the greatest Beatles song of all time on it, I just sayin... yeah, but other than the songs and the classic cover, you've got to admit it's overrated. Agreed, if the songs were not so great, it probably wouldn't even be a classic! But here's my take on Sgt. Pepper. I agree that maybe She's Leaving Home is not my favorite Beatles song, but neither is Good Day Sunshine or Love to You. Sgt Pepper has a seamless mix of instruments, and not like Abbey Road which has an orchestra playing over rock music, but Sgt Pepper is like a new form of music that incorporates the different instruments into a complete original sound. Revolver is great, but I don't hear it as as perfect an album as Sgt Pepper because it just sounds like a great collection of songs. There is no real unifying thread, musically. Sgt Pepper is a complete experience, perfectly tied together, and is more groundbreaking than the equally beautiful & perfect Abbey Road. And beyond that, the songs on Sgt Pepper are really great, even the "lesser" ones! I find Getting Better & Good Morning to be classic album tracks. Definitely on a level of And Your Bird Can Sing & Honey Pie. And the classic Lennon tunes Lucy in the Sky & A Day in the Life surpass She Said & Tomorrow Never knows, IMO (and only my O, of course) My Legacy

Even the name Nirvana represents what the music does. It's such a release of energy, that even though it's sarcastic or serious in nature, it is a whirlwind of rock, creating an ecstacy of sorts. It's actually uplifting. My Legacy
