A little local flava from the past NECKWORK - USHY ERON ***VainAndy Alert*** I forgot about this song until I was digging through my 12in singles. It was made by a local Dallas DJ in 1983. His name was Ushy (pronounced U-Shay) Eron. He died last year, but NeckWork lives on. When I played the song, I immediately thought of Andy. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

I met Ushy back in '81. He was the baddest club jocks in the area.
From his days @ Mad Cap Mollies, Pizzazz, Starz, and a host of many other clubs, plus radio gigs @ KNOK 107.5 and later KKDA's K104. He was the best. I tailored some of my dj style after his. He was cool with all the dj's in town..,heck some of us (dj's) bought our first pair of 1200's from him Neckwork was a very local song, The group were the Star Studded Strutters... You brought back some long ago memories. [Edited 8/13/09 14:58pm]

He was extremely nice and was amazed that I had his song on 12in and thought enough of it to transfer it to cd. He told me he sold close to 10,000 copies of this song. He said it caught on in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, and parts of California. So, Ushy made some real money on this song. I was really surprised when he died. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

Yeah, I forgot about V-100.., it's safe to say he touchdown @ every black radio station in town, including the public station KNON . I could see it catching on in those regions. I was shock before his death.., when I learned from Tony B; Ushy was ill and needed help with medical costs.

Yeah, I heard from a few radio friends that he may have had AIDS or something similar (no one could ever confirm it, though). From my understanding, in his hey-day, he did a LOT of drugs. You are so right. He did work with every urban station in town (except KRNB...I think). He was truly blessed with his mixing abilities. I used to record his mix shows back in the day on K-104. I remember on Saturday nights that he used to play the hell out of "Erotic City" and "Sticky Situation" from Tyrone Brunson. He used to frequently say "Hand claps...everybody in the joint" during the breakdown on the long version of EC. Ahhhh....memories. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

I've heard wild stories about Ushy spinning records with cocaine on them in the dj booth. I knew about his use of "V" Roche 10 though.

So, it would not be too far-fetched to find out if he didn't die from a disease related to all of his past drug use. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-
