Don't mind that tracklisting, really.. played the intros to each song in my head and they flow together well enough. Disc 1 more than Disc 2.

It'd be great if they made an exclusive 3-CD set (or an Itunes exclusive!), but we all know that will not be the case.

That price is kind of ridiculous.

Yeah,I don't really have any major problems with this tracklist. It's not perfect but I can live with it.I like all of these songs, some more than others. As I mentioned in the other thread,I mainly only play greatest hits CDs when I'm on my way to that artist's concert and this set will serve that purpose for me.If I wanna hear Madonna any other time,I'll simply stick with the regular albums/CDs.

That price is kind of ridiculous.

That's just the list price. This thing will be alot cheaper in stores, especially during the first week of release.I'm hoping it'll be around $15-$18 in places like Wal-Mart and Target.

Agreed. It should have been at least 3 discs. Let's hope the DVD is worth it.

Here's my attempt at a 3-disc comp, including everything that's going to be on there (although with different versions where appropriate) and stuff that's missing. I went with 18 songs per disc as they are doing, although I'm sure we could squeeze another 4-5 songs on there.

Pop:

1 Borderline
2 Like a Virgin
3 Material Girl
4 Papa Don't Preach
5 True Blue
6 La Isla Bonita
7 Who's That Girl
8 Like a Prayer
9 Cherish
10 Secret
11 Beautiful Stranger
12 Don't Tell Me
13 What It Feels Like for a Girl
14 Die Another Day
15 Hollywood
16 Jump
17 4 Minutes
18 Revolver

Dance:

1 Everybody
2 Burning Up
3 Holiday
4 Lucky Star
5 Angel
6 Into the Groove
7 Dress You Up
8 Gambler
9 Open Your Heart
10 Causing a Commotion
11 Express Yourself
12 Vogue
13 Deeper and Deeper
14 Ray of Light
15 Music
16 Hung Up
17 Sorry
18 Celebration

Ballads:

1 Crazy for You
2 Live to Tell
3 The Look of Love
4 Oh Father
5 Justify My Love
6 Erotica
7 This Used to Be My Playground
8 Bad Girl
9 Rain
10 I'll Remember
11 Take a Bow
12 You'll See
13 You Must Love Me
14 Frozen
15 The Power of Goodbye
16 Substitute for Love
17 Nothing Fails
18 Miles Away

Not really, but it doesn't exactly fit in with a pop disc or a dance disc either. lol I thought that pairing it with "Justify My Love" would provide a nice spicy interlude on the ballads disc. lol

looking at that supposed single-disc tracklist, I'm thinking that perhaps the best thing to have done was to have 3 different single-disc compilations (a ballads, a pop, a dance -- or 80's, 90's, 00's -- or however you want to divide it) called "Celebration", each with 1 new track and 17 hits per disc.

and then sell them together as a collected edition around the holidays.

seems like the best way to cover all the ground, let the casual purchaser pick & choose what they wanted and give the hardcore fans something collectible and thorough.

of course you still have the problem of selecting which versions to go on, but then if they'd put some more (as in any) thought and effort into the project, we wouldn't be having that conversation at all. the lazy hodge-podge nature of the tracks/versions they've picked is what is the major problem.

what a waste all around.

only for hardcore fans

or anyone who wants to buy a decent madonna collection.

It seems like most people think that anything with film footage (other than "Beautiful Stranger") won't be represented, which would be a shame. "Crazy for You", "Gambler", "Live to Tell", "Who's That Girl", "This Used to Be My Playground", "I'll Remember", "Don't Cry for Me Argentina" and "You Must Love Me" would be great!

I just realized there is absolutely nothing I like about this entire project now. I went from really looking forward to it to wishing it wasn't coming out at all now.

The cover: she looks retarded. Literally.

The tracklist: We've covered that sufficiently.

The new songs: Celebration has got to be the least memorable song she's ever put out and that's saying a lot when you think about how tuneless and lyrically inept a lot of her stuff has been this decade.

The video: from the stills and short clips we've seen, she looks like Barbara Walters to me. The hair. That stupid dress. The giant bow. WTF is she thinking?

The only hope I have remaining is that the DVD collection is comprehensive and salvagaes this half-assed project. But I'm sure they'll fuck that up too.

I'd personally love to see rare clips like the "Holiday" video included, but this has too many close ups of Christopher, so it probably won't be included wink

It would be a shame to not include any of the above, especially tracks like "Crazy For You", "Live To Tell" and "Who's That Girl"- some of her best tracks are from films, but I find that this also takes away from the visuals being all about 'Madonna'. Does that make sense?

any of the movies that are owned by Warner Bros. shouldn't be a problem. now, whether or not they'll get their accountants to go to the trouble to do all the appropriate paperwork between the music, film and dvd divisions, well, i think we have a pretty good idea about that: HELL NO. everything else about this entire project is sloppy and half-assed. why would they put any more effort into the DVD.

has anyone ever seen the DVD version of the Immaculate Collection? it's grotesque. the videos themselves are VHS transfers and they've repalced the soundtrack to most of them with the versions from TIC disc. it's so stupid, at one point, you can even hear where they had to cut the original version of LAV in because the TIC version wasn't long enough.

so. I'm not expecting much out of the Celebration DVD either. I'm hoping, but I'm not expecting.

It will cost about half that much when it first comes out and likely still less after. It will cost $24.95 at small music chains (if any still exsist) for the regular price.
We'll never get a good Madonna collection until WB gets up and releases a singles collection. Maybe something like MJ's "Visionary" but with all singles. Something hardcore fans can finally feel good about it. It's still possible but not after at least on Live Nation release.

As people have said, "Who's That Girl" has a chance becuase it's a WB film. That would be awfully surprising though since she probably gnashed her teeth just putting it on the CD.

Not on my DVD. There is the long version of Lucky Star, there is the ending of Like A Virgin (which is missing on the cd), there is the beginning and ending of La Isla Bonita (both missing on the CD) and also there is the original Like A Prayer. The only thing I noticed is that La Isla Bonita and Like A Prayer are joined (the Like A Prayer video starts and you can still hear the La Isla Bonita song fading). Other than that it is fine.

hmmm It's okay I guess, but it's shocking that they are leaving off "Live To Tell" and "Take A Bow".This tracklist just proves how absurb it is to release a single-disc Madonna greatest hits set. This CD is leaving off singles that actually went to Number One nuts

Is that the cover? Unlike the cover of the 2-cd version it is horrible. Plus the tracklist is seriously lacking. I'm gonna buy the 2-cd version

The weird thing about the ad is that it uses the TIC versions of both Into The Groove and Like A Prayer (I hope that's not the case of the cd). It also uses the Into The Groove video in 2 parts so is it possible is gonna be included on the dvd

Not sure if this was already posted on the other thread, but apparently, this is the confirmed tracklist for the single disc:

Hung Up
Music
Vogue
4 Minutes
Holiday
Like A Virgin
Into The Groove
Like A Prayer
Ray Of Light
La Isla Bonita
Frozen
Material Girl
Papa Don't Preach
Lucky Star
Express Yourself
Open Your Heart
Dress You Up
Celebration

hmmm It's okay I guess, but it's shocking that they are leaving off "Live To Tell" and "Take A Bow".This tracklist just proves how absurb it is to release a single-disc Madonna greatest hits set. This CD is leaving off singles that actually went to Number One nuts

Is that the cover? Unlike the cover of the 2-cd version it is horrible. Plus the tracklist is seriously lacking. I'm gonna buy the 2-cd version

No,that's a fan-made cover.I like it lol The tracklist is lacking,but I expected it to be,lol.

any of the movies that are owned by Warner Bros. shouldn't be a problem. now, whether or not they'll get their accountants to go to the trouble to do all the appropriate paperwork between the music, film and dvd divisions, well, i think we have a pretty good idea about that: HELL NO. everything else about this entire project is sloppy and half-assed. why would they put any more effort into the DVD.

has anyone ever seen the DVD version of the Immaculate Collection? it's grotesque. the videos themselves are VHS transfers and they've repalced the soundtrack to most of them with the versions from TIC disc. it's so stupid, at one point, you can even hear where they had to cut the original version of LAV in because the TIC version wasn't long enough.

so. I'm not expecting much out of the Celebration DVD either. I'm hoping, but I'm not expecting.

I have to agree with jiorjios¤- my DVD version of Immaculate Collection is great, perfect edits, original versions of tracks...and I kind of like that La Isla Bonita joins with Like A Prayer- makes the following video more dramatic.
Want the official tracklist for the Celebration DVD to be confirmed now.

Seriously Dress you up over Live to tell or Borderline? WHAT THE FUCKERY!

Blame that on the Twitter request. I always knew DYU was the most requested song when the fans Tweeted Guy, and that it's now the "bonus" song on the 1 CD to make sure there's something different from TIC.

Actually towards the end of LAV you can hear the music changing (back to the album version), LAP does not have the sound effects and LS is the "remix edit", it is quite a bad job for a DVD. I'm afraid everything from TIC and VC 93:99 will be reused on this compilation anyway and they will use the same versions.

Hush up about Dress You Up lol . It's finally getting the respect it deserves instead of the overplayed others all the time. If thats the case that one song has to die another day for it, then so be it.

Yeah,"Dress You Up" is my second favorite song from LAV and I'm glad that it's finally getting the respect it deserves. It was foolish to leave it off TIC but I guess they really didn't have enough room.
