90's Jam of the Day: "Freak Me" by Silk

I looooove this song, the lyrics and melody are so sexy. The lyrics: "Let me lick you up and down....till you say stop....let me play with your body baby...make you real hot...let me do all the things...you want me to do...cuz tonight baby...I wanna get freaky with you." have always reminded me of lyrics that Prince would have written during the days when he was writing provocative lyrics. lol

I remember a year or so after this song came out,Gladys Knight talked about starting her own record label. She was sick of hearing obscene songs on the radio and wanted to form a respectable label that would showcase "clean" music."Our kids need to hear something better than "let me lick you up and down",she said lol

I liked when the last line of the chorus ("I wanna get freaky with youuuu") was used in the remix for SWV's "Downtown" (a song just as raunchy). lol

"go down, baby."

Its a good song, whatever happened to Silk? Its just so "Do Me new Jack swing" of the 1990-1994 period, that reminds me a lot of Boyz 11 Men, Bel Biv Devoe, Bobby Brown, Ralph Tresvant (More saccharine, and Jodeci (More explicit), I mean the guy with the big lips doing the oooohhhhhs! could be a Nathan Morris or Jojo imitation, great song, but a 0 for originality, I suppose at the time, The Record company wouldn't sign u unless you did that Do Me crap.

Best song of this period "If I ever fall in love again" by Shai.
So what are u going 2 do? R u just gonna sit there and watch? I'm not gonna stop until the war is over. Its gonna take a long time
