Lade Gaga is nothing more than a Pink rip off

Listened to the entire disc lastnight with a friend, and all I heard was Pink.

I was surprised that some of the songs were absolutely ghastly. Do like Lovegame though.

She's pretty far removed from Pink and her disgusting excuse for music, I'd say. I'm not a huge Lady Gaga fan, or anything, but she's nowhere near as offensive as Pink.

No no no, the sound of it, not the lyrics.

The sound of her/his(?) voice, sounded like Pink in a whole lot of the songs.

Did you know that Lady Gaga writes music for a lot of other people?
Not sure if she writes for Pink though I wouldn't be surprised.
She does almost all the voices herself on her recordings,

She is a lot of fun when she is DJing at clubs.

I'm not really understanding this. Lady Gaga and Pink do a totally different kind of music. Lady Gaga is more dance/electro and Pink is more pop/rock.

pink at least has some pipes on her, even if her music tends to be a little "meh".

lady gaga is just derivative to me. if her persona were as outrageous as her costumes, maybe i'd at least think she was entertaining. but there doesn't seem to be much going on under the lycra that *I'VE* seen, anyway. her music doesn't do much for me, either. sometimes she has fun dance routines. shrug

I would love a return of a good dance pop, but she just isn't it. It's all dumbed down and hip hopped up. Also, the outrageous outfits does not come off as cool like Grace Jones. With her, it's just like a little girl playing dress up.

More like

Pink + Britney+ Christina (from Stripped album days)= Lady Gaga

I tried to listen to her album once, but it was boring for me.

lol Lady Gaga wishes that she was a P!nk rip off. Older P!nk (back when she was more R&B than pop/rock) is 10 times better than anything Lady Gaga has put out. God, I hate that 'Disco Stick' song. mad I thought I hated 'Poker Face', but 'Disco Stick' has taken that 'pure shit' crown hands down. Seriously, the only song I like from Lady Gaga is 'Just Dance'. She sucked me in with that one only to make me run away with her latest two singles. I just want to see how popular she would be without the Lady Gaga persona, because
P!nk has always been able to carry her music perfectly fine by just being herself. No gimmicks, just dedication to her craft and an outstanding set of vocal chords to back up lyrics with actual substance. Just my twocents

I don't think Pink and Lady GaGa are similar at all. Lady Gaga is Dance/pop, whereas I would call Pink's music Pop/Rock with a little soul.

Lady Gaga wishes she was as cool as Pink! cool

Ugh, you all suck.

Love her voice, love her production, love that she's so OTT.
I don't think Lady Gaga and Pink are comparable. I've never made the connection. I like them both well enough. To me Gaga is aligned closer to fashion and the art world, Pink doesn't appear to have anything to do with either of those spheres.

at least pink has some kind of persona or identity, as annoying as it can sometimes be. i think that's what bothers me about lady gaga - she doesn't really have an identity other than "she wears really weird outfits and does dance music". confused

i LOVE pop stars who make spectacles of themselves, but the fun thing has always been that there's an outrageous personality to go with the crazy costumes. cyndi lauper, madonna, grace jones, annie lennox...i'm sure there are tons more names we can come up with...but they weren't just mannequins for avant garde fashion gimmicks. their performance style, the personas they created, their wit in interviews, all of that stuff worked together to make them memorable and fascinating. what's gaga's schtick? i have no idea. is it that she's a blank slate, a robot, a soulless cipher? hell, andy warhol already did that schtick 40 years ago. and, duh, he did it better.

i'd really like to like her because she looks like she should be interesting. maybe one day she'll decide to take over the world and be the biggest star ever, and she'll actually consider unleashing a personality on the world. then maybe i'll have something good to say about her. shrug

lol You must not know a whole lot about P!nk because she has been writing her own songs (many with actual substance) for quite some time now. In fact, Britney Spears had asked P!nk to write songs for her prior to her meltdown.
Of course, P!nk declined the offer in the end for what I felt was a totally valid reason. I'm sorry, but 'I wanna take a ride on your disco stick' is not exactly what I would call great or intelligent song writing In fact, most of Lady Gaga's lyrics really aren't anything spectacular, but that's just my own personal opinion.

Don't get me wrong. I like the occasional song with mindless drivel for lyrics, but Lady Gaga really pushes it for me. When Lady Gaga starts writing lyrics like the one's below, than my opinion of her being more a gimmick than anything else will change:

Honestly, comparing the two of them, lyrically, would be like comparing Dr. Seuss to Stephen King for me. I love some Dr. Seuss, but c'mon now. lol

This is still my all-time favorite P!nk song:

mushy

If Lady Gaga does it for people, than awesome and keep listenin' and smilin', but she's nothing new or amazing considering that she copies from soo many older artists who are 10 times better than her. She's fun...yep, that's about it. All just my twocents

I wasn't referring to her lyrics (although Pink's are pretty awful). Pink is an abomination in the music industry.

I see Gaga sliding right into that list of artists and exactly for the reasons you listed. They've had decades to build their relationship with the public/audience but I think she's done an incredible job within 18 months to push herself out there. I can see how her style is taken as too contrived/calculated but hello, Madonna anyone? Refreshingly at least her style feels like it's a projection of her own passion for fashion and dance music. She could very well fall off next release but I'll be interested to see what she's doing.

well, the people i've listed have taken years to build a relationship with the public, but they also burst right on the scene not only with over the top style, but they also had over the top stage presence and personas...two things lady gaga has yet to really radiate. sure, madonna was contrived and calculated from the word go, but she also had a fun/crude sense of humor and, at least in the first half of her career, a sense that she was laughing at herself just a little bit when she would do something outrageous. meanwhile, we could find out lady gaga is actually one of those robots from the disneyworld presidents exhibit and it would make a lot of sense to me.

I like them both, I think it's fun pop music. I saw Pink live at the 930 Club in DC and she rocked it. Say what you want, she's a great live performer and vocalist.
