I LOVED Madge's interviews with Kurt.

I always would be glued to see what Madonna's answers were to Kurt's questions. lol

he was one of the only press people who took her seriously

plus he was relevant/legit

I always felt they had a 'thing' for each other

MTV originally only aired this video late at night becasue they didn't think the target audience of 18-24 white males would wanna see a dance pop artist.

Really? She was perfect then for MTV, I would think!

She was given the same thing given to MJ: their music was "pop/dance". After "Thriller", they started to play Madonna regularly. This is why she came through a year after her debut. The "Madonna" album was doing just decent until MTV played "Borderline", that's when it all changed for Madonna. People sometimes forget that Madonna was not openly embraced when she first came out in 1982.

I understand that she wasn't embraced by critics and the like, but I suppose I didn't think she would have taken time to gather steam at MTV.

Oh, I know she wasn't on MTV much at the time, but I didn't know they specifically restricted access to "Burning Up".

Yeah they said that actually when they did a documentary on her and they mentioned how "Burning Up" was played after a certain time.
