I don't get it!!, Why do y'all hate on 90's music so much??... Y'All act like the people in the 40's 50's and early 60's was not hating on the Motown era.I know people who grow up in the 50's(Blues era) hate Motown music.I thank it's a generation thing. Sadly the people who grow up in the New Jack Swing/ Hip-Hop Soul/Real-Hip-Hop are hating on the new generation (2000 era).

I heart 90s music.

There were some great things to come out of the 90's: Mint Condition, SWV, Mariah, D'Angelo, Maxwell, Jill Scott, Erykah, CeCe Pennistan and Black Box and that whole era, and a few others, however for the most part I hated the music of the 90's.

In the 90's music was either sampled to death, about raw sex, had a undertone of depression and sadness, or it was thugged out and about murder. Every single song, of course not, but the majority of it was. The "fun" and origionality in music was killed off in the 90's and I'm not sure if it will ever return.
I am convinced Beyonce's career would not be where it is, if she had dark skin.

No Doubt was the last real music! 1996 was the last year.. after that the Spice Girls were pushed/promoted - then Rap Rock, then Blonde Pop/Boy Bands.

From 1997 on music has been basically over - in general. The mainstream. They have forced "pop" on everyone as the mainstream. They wont let it die, go under and let other things come up like it has been since Elvis.

Nah. I'll admit that I'm a 90s snob. But why then do I like a lot of music from the current decade? lol

the 90s were amazing. i don't get the animosity either.

autechre, the lemonheads, primitive radio gods, rage against the machine...

amazing music from that decade.

I think I've heard of some of those names but never heard of their music. Those must be rock groups? Well, look back at the 90s from the R&B side. Once you get past around 1992 or 1993, all you're gonna find is shit hop or adult contemporary (Lawrence Welk tempoed music) unless you go to the underground gay house music scene where they still knew how to party. lol

Old or not, which generation's music is at a tempo more suitable for playing musical chairs at a nursing home? It certainly wasn't the 70s or 80s. lol

I pretty much liked the 90's...however it depends on the genere of music @ the time.

90's r&B was good in 1990-1992 ..then 1996-1999.

Rap was good to me only in about 1990 -1991 // 1996-1999 where they stopped using sampled jungle loops over and over again

Rock from about 1992-1999 for me.

Country changed indefinitley in all years and got really popular with Garth Brooks and Shaniah Twain in the late 90's..then its been pretty much contry/rock.

Its hit or miss....I HATED the 1993-1995 era of music...oh god some of it was good like Alanis Morisette R. Kelly and Montell Jordan for example however alsot of that era really dragged me down...Prince music was HORRENDOUS at that time.

autechre was more techno type stuff, but you're right, a lot of the good music WAS overlooked on the R&B side, past a certain point. and it's a shame too, because what was popular wasn't always good, but yet it sold, and that's all that mattered, apparently.

Well, I didn't really hate the music of the 90's, but compared to the music of the 60's, 70's, and 80's it was not as strong. And then again I could say that I'll take the stuff from the 90's over the garbage that's out today. But I still liked a lot of groups back then who made some cool music from the Chili Peppers to Weezer to Lenny Kravitz to A Tribe Called Quest.

But I always had to go back to my New Wave era since that was much more inspirational to me. More on this later....
