Selling out is an understatement. A JW (Prince) doing a live duet with demon-possessed woman (Beyonce AKA Sasha Fierce). I would love to see how Prince explain himself at the next bible study session! Lawd...you always make me smile, Tony! "Let love be your perfect weapon..." ~~Andy Biersack

I have grown to dislike Beyonce a lot too, but I can see why Prince thought it was a good look in 2004. But, yeah, a Christina and Prince combo would have been much more interesting, I think. She has stronger pipes and is less overexposed. Also, she may be even smaller than Prince. That could have been cute! "Be glad for what you had baby, what you've got..."

Donna Summer, Grace Jones, Vanity , Kelis. I try but she just too clean for me. [Edited 8/9/09 19:53pm] That;s because all the women you mentioned are individual, innovators, and controlled their careers. Bey is just her daddy and Jayz puppet, and that's why I have never been able to connect with her as an artist. And yet, you can somehow connect with Denise Matthews', wait, I mean Prince's "Vanity" for some reason? "You put water into a cup, it becomes the cup...Now water can flow or it can crash. Beyonce is trying to get her bills paid!
Hell yeah Prince would work with her because she has a nice body. She can actually sing. You have to be a crook to be in show business. Good guys always finish last! Beyonce learned the sneaky recipe to staying on top. Don't hate the player hate the game. I am not sure what's wrong, but it's probably your fault!

I'm sorry to focus in on Vanity, lol. But to see her compared to a performer like Beyonce, with her name listed in this thread as a "cool" and then "innovative" musical artist, is funny to me.
Madonna: Yeah. Grace Jones: Yeah, sure. Donna Summer: Of course. Kelis: Alright. But Vanity? Again, I'm sorry, lol. I just will never understand the respect Vanity receives for her "artistry." This may be true. She fit the image Prince was trying to portray quite well. The issue with Beyonce is that she is about the most annoying performer of the past quarter century. Had Prince duet with Christina instead of Beyonce, we wouldn't even had a thread like THIS right now. Yeah, I agree. All that sh*t he talked about Mariah in the past, but then sings w/Beyonce????? Christina Aguilera (or even Alicia Keys) would've been a better choice, but the "who's hot" factor ALWAYS comes into play these days. And who's hotter than Beyonce' rite now??? NOBODY!!!!! Cuz Daddy Knowz (Knowles) won't let them!!!!!

Fact remains, that performances got him some of the best publicity he'd had in years. Before that he was all but irrelevant after his public image plummeted with the whole name change issue.
Anyway, why isn't anyone starting threads about the fact that he still has to sing his 1984 hits to get any attention? Grammys, Superbowl both had the hits, Idol didn't and Idol probably got the least attention (or the bad publicity with reports of him being a diva and arriving late). Kinda sad, huh? There's nothing wrong with performing with new talent, it's just that this forum has a HUGE problem with Beyonce and there hadn't been a criticism thread in, what, a week?

Oh, and yeah, Christina would've been a better choice, if we wanted to watch Prince's mouth moving but not hear any sound coming out since Ms Foghornulera would've screamed the house down. Didn't you guys see her trainwreck tribute to James Brown?

Well, I guess I can understand that, since some of her costumes, and uptempo choreography can be quite disappointing. But one thing I can always say about Beyonce though is that I am never annoyed by her vocals. I think she's a consistently fantastic singer. t's a known fact that she has all her songs ghostwritten for her and changes one letter to receive publishing then claims she wrote them herself.
Really? We're talking about the guy who ghostwrote for The Time, Vanity 6, and other artists under different aliases This is also the guy who put: TC Ellis Ingrid Chavez Mayte Vanity Jerome Benton Apollonia Tony M and the Game Boyz and Carmen Electra in the spotlight "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

Wow, lol. And I thought I was the only one who considers Christina A. to be a "yeller." She tries to be like Patti LaBelle onstage, but just ends up sounding extremely irritating. "You put water into a cup, it becomes the cup...Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend." - Bruce Lee

I'm sorry but you don't know what the hell you're talking about. How many business dealings have you had with WB? None, I bet. WB is comprised of several hundreds of dudes like Matt Knowles. He could only aspire to be as dirty as that label. Matthew is only one snake. Warner Bros. is a vipers' den. And lets not forget about Sony/BMG. Wow, lol. And I thought I was the only one who considers Christina A. to be a "yeller." She tries to be like Patti LaBelle onstage, but just ends up sounding extremely irritating. I hate it when actually decent singers do that. Beyonce, Christina and even MaryJBlige all fall into that category. They overdo it and it doesn´t really add anything to the quality of the performance. That other chick, Nicki Costa, or Nikka or whatever, the one who appeared at the Las Vegas Alladin show, does that kind of singing/screaming, too. And I find it extremely annoying. I think Eric Leeds also finds it annoying, as he once said at the 2002 celebration at Paisley Park. He said the proper term for that kind of screaming is "melisma". I hate it. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"
