Alright. Let's talk about the one song that bridged it all... You and I by Rick James, from 1978's Come Get It! That opening guitar riff was a shot in the dark, in the light, and how about them shadows, too. This song was an invitation for the Funk and the R & B games to re-open doors for business; it was a path to lead us out of the Disco forrest and back to gritty music that resembled people's actual lives, not just a reflection of the busine$$ that distracted from these actual lives. | |
