Funk Classics that were NOT as uptempo as Disco or Synth-Driven Funk

If you know of any, post the list in this thread.

I'll start it off with THIS funk classic by The Meters:

It's THE Funk in the most basic form. Granted, it isn't uptempo. But you can still shake your booty to it! cool

It's weird all you American dudes seem to like the late 70s and early 80s faster, electro (disco influenced) funk, which is cool. but this is the stuff the Brits like the old raw proto-funk from the late 60s early 70s.

I'd say Mothership Connection (1975) changed the game forever though.

THIS track was in the 80's:

It isn't so much about the time period as much as it really is about a track that is funky even when it isn't uptempo.

I don't know if this should qualify but since you said "synth-driven", but this was "drum-driven" (by Marvin nonetheless):

It DOES have synths though but HEY... this is not "uptempo" but it's a "booty-shaking" joint tho. wink

You know it's Fred Wesley and the J.B.'s, right? I played this record for Fred once and he almost fell out. He had forgotten all about it.

Don't be a Funk Nazi now .. biggrin
Just pick some jams without synths, add some horns and it'll all be good.
