No, there are professionaly shot footage of the janet. tour
and so was the RWU tour http://www.youtube.com/wa...annel_page

I know the Janet tour was filmed. It had to be for them to have made several videos from the different footage.

they normally film a few of performaces one night but nothing that is filmed for release as an entire production

First artist to have a #1 single in the 80s, 90s, and 00s.

In 2004, Billboard ranked Janet as the ninth most successful recording artist in the history of Rock & Roll. She is also the second most successful female artist behind only Madonna.

I love Janet but...
The FIRST singer to have a number 1 in the 80s, 90s and 00s is not really a record. It would be a record if we were talking about three decades in general. And Cher did that before her.

Plus I simply cannot believe that Janet was the second most successful female recording artist in the USA in 2004. Mariah Carey (whom I don't like) was obviously more successful than her by that time and possibly others too.

And don't forget that Janet's international appeal is much less than of any other contemporary diva

Madonna 13 UK number 1s/ 10 UK number 1 albums (including Evita)
Mariah 2 UK number 1s/ 2 UK number 1 albums
Whitney 4 UK number 1s/ 3 UK number 1 albums (including The Bodyguard)
Celine 2 UK number 1s/ 5 UK number 1 albums

Janet 0 UK number 1s/ 1 UK number 1 album

Janet 0 UK number 1s/ 1 UK number 1 album

It was specifically the 80s, 90s and 2000s that we were talking about. Cher's "Believe" was in 1999. Record or not, Janet was the first female artist to have a #1 Billboard hit in the 2000s, making her the first to achieve that status for three decades straight. Others came after, but she was the first. And, I'm thinking Billboard took everything into consideration when speaking on "successful" female artists. Some may have sold more records or obtained more UK #1s, but Janet has records. Impressive records that have stood for years. She has more Billboard awards than any artist male or female; her Rhythm Nation is one of only three albums in history to achieve the Billboard-singles chart feat of 7 top 10 pop singles (Thriller and Born in the USA are the other 2). She has film records, in that all three of her movies opened #1 at the box office. She has more #1 R&B hits than MJ, and is just under Aretha, James Brown and Stevie Wonder. Her RN tour still holds the highest grossing-debut tour by an artist-record. Her janet. album was the first in Soundscan's inception to debut at #1. All 8 of her CDs since Control have debuted in the top 2, with 6 of them debuting at #1. It goes on and on. It is easy to see why she would be #2 most successful female artist with those credentials alone.

Isn't Rhythm Nation 1814 still the only record with 7 top-5 singles? That's an extremely impressive record, especially considering it probably would've been 8 if they had released a physical single here for "State of the World" (it got to #5 in airplay).

Yep. Rhythm Nation 1814 is the only album ever to achieve 7 top 5 Billboard Hot 100 singles, with 4 of them going to number one. And State of the World would have made it 8. That is no small music industry feat in any day and age. It was also the best-selling album of 1990 and the only album in history to have number one hits in three separate calendar years (1989, 1990 and 1991).

I don't argue in order to minimize her achievements or her place in history and the success and records of RN1814 are undeniable. I just stated that some of those records seem a bit stretched. But I see your point. I like Janet a lot too.

The janet. album is her biggest hit, selling about 17 million worldwide. Control and RN both sold about 14 million worldwide. TVR and AFY both sold 8-10 million worldwide. These figures are probably underestimates as there has been no recertification of her albums in some time. Janet was a consistent international seller for a while, even if she wasn't quite on the level of Madonna, Mariah and Whitney.

Mariah and Whitney are bigger album sellers, domestically and internationally. There is no disputing that. Music Box is Mariah's biggest-selling album internationally, shifting over 32 million units worldwide. Whitney's biggest success, The Bodyguard, sold over 42 million copies.

Janet has not sold over 100 million albums worldwide - that figure refers to records (albums and singles). She has sold about 75 million albums worldwide, and another 40-50 million singles.

I think the remix packages for all of the RN singles are some of the most impressive ever compiled. Especially as an entire body of work. I think many of the remixes easily equal - if not surpass - the album versions. The most prominent case of this would be the single version of Alright, which easily beats the CD album version (although it is very similar to the album version on vinyl).

I love the Make a Change Dub of State of the World, with the choir. Very beautiful.

Madonna 13 UK number 1s/ 10 UK number 1 albums (including Evita)
Mariah 2 UK number 1s/ 2 UK number 1 albums
Whitney 4 UK number 1s/ 3 UK number 1 albums (including The Bodyguard)
Celine 2 UK number 1s/ 5 UK number 1 albums

Janet 0 UK number 1s/ 1 UK number 1 album

Janey has never been popular in the UK, so it's a good thing there's a whole world outside of there.

And she is 2nd after Madonna for the 2nd biggest female recording artist. They judged it on album and single certifications and success. Janet accomplished that by only having 3 albums released during the 90's, whilst Mariah released 7 and Jan still beat her. Janet has the most billboard music awards in history, male or female, with 34.

One thing about Janet is that people don't realise how much she's achieved. People seem to think like "She's was big, but not THAT big".

Reports say Janet has been asked to perform at MOBO Awards

The Scottish Sunday Mail is reporting that Janet has been invited by organizers to perform at next month's MOBO Awards during a special tribute to Michael Jackson.

"Janet is a music icon in her own right and a previous MOBO presenter," a spokesman for the awards said. "We loved her past involvement with the show and MOBO will continue to support her music and champion her career."

While the newspaper report seems to indicate that Janet has accepted the invitation, it is unclear right now whether that is true.

The event will take place September 30 in Glasgow, Scotland. The MOBO Awards seek to recognize the influence of black music in popular culture.
