Kelis Delivers Baby Boy

July 22

Kelis has given birth to a baby boy, whom she has called Knight. The child was born yesterday (July 21) in New York City.

Knight’s father Nas was reportedly not allowed to be present at the birth of his son, as he is currently embroiled in a bitter divorce with estranged wife Kelis.

“It was his intention to be there for the birth, but unfortunately he has not been allowed to be present,” a source close to the rapper to allhiphop.com. “While this is clearly heartbreaking to him, Nas continues to offer his support and love to his new baby boy and his mother.”

The pair were due in court yesterday for a divorce hearing, but it was postponed due to the birth of the baby.

The pair were married for almost five years until Kelis filed for divorce in April, citing irreconcilable differences.

for real that was sort of cruel. Their issues are between the two of them, not the child. I see this is going to get nasty. Nas better get ready to get his lawyers in tow.

Kelis just hit the jackpot in court today -- a judge awarded her a ton of money in her bitter divorce battle with estranged hubby Nas.

A judge decided Nas has to pay Kelis $55,000 a month in combined spousal and child support -- plus the mortgage on their L.A. residence.

Nas also has to pay Kelis -- who gave birth last night to the couple's only child -- for the baby nurse, prenatal expenses and medical insurance.
