Going to see U2 tomorrow

I got a free ticket to see U2 tomorrow in Dublin. Not a massive fan but I've heard the show is good. Anyone seen them on this tour already?

My first thought when I read your subject line was "Hope they didn't pay a lot."

Good job. wink

lol I'm not really a fan of theirs so I wouldn't pay to see them, plus I have to spare the pennies for when Prince comes to town, I'm sure he's coming soon .. smile

Seen them live, and I can tell U - U have no idea what U're in 4. On album they're a gr8 band, but LIVE, there is not a group that can touch that magic they bring.

The new tour looks & sounds absolutely stunning so far... catching a show in October here in Tampa. U're getting 2 catch them in their hometown! Njoy!

Thanks Musze! I really enjoyed the show in the end, they really do know how to work a stadium and of course there are so many songs that everyone knows. Musically I wasn't massively impressed (But I have high standards, I am a Prince fan after all!) but they did play around with some of the songs (so you didn't feel like you were just listening to a CD like with some bands) and the crowd just got really into the whole thing and turned it into a big party!

Enjoy the show in October! One thing I'd say to you is to try to get to see them from the ground instead of up on the stands (I was on the highest tier LOL). They managed to get everyone up on their feet even in the stands but the people on the ground were having a *blast*! And there's an inner circle right by the stage which looked great (but apparently those people were queueing since midnight the night before to get in there).

I had friends in high school who were huge fans of U2 (during the Rattle N Hum days), and one thing that they told me was that U2 is a tremendous live act.

I would imagine that you'll get a really good show.

I listenned to their last album twice and shelved it.

The first listening, I really enjoyed it but felt the songs weren't really 'stand out' songs.
I thought possibly on repeated listening the songs would sink in.

But on the second listening, I was bored.

same. I listened to it for about 2 or 3 days straight waiting for the greatness to sink in and after hearing it that many times an only being able to pick out 2 or 3 by tune, I realized it just wasn't going to happen.

For me, the latest album is the most moving album they have made in years and years.

Takes some time to get "into", I guess, and not everyone seems to like it, but for me it rewarded my multiple listens.

Looking forward to seeing them twice very soon.

cool
This is not an exit
