Funk Jam O' The Day: The Gap Band - Oops Up Side Your Head These brothers are from one of my home towns, Tulsa, OK. The black business district (north side), which suffered looting and fires 70 years ago from racial groups and caused a huge racial line in Tulsa for the next 60 years, converged on the corners of Greenwood, Archer, and Pine Streets. G.A.P. was the original acronym of the band, but later changed to just GAP, sans the periods. There is now a Gap Band Avenue on the North side of Tulsa. The Greenwood, Archer, Pine district has since been rebuilt and is thriving today. It's seen a great revitalization in the past 15 years or so. The run down ghetto feeling was quickly upgraded and made as great as any other part of Tulsa (which is a big town, and growing exponentially in the past 10+ years). Notice "Greenwood Ave" in the background, which intersects with the new Gap Band Ave.

I love this song. This was my deceased grandfather's favorite song
and band. He used to have the Gap Band IV on 8 track. Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint
