does anyone realize that woman has stolen Kool & The Gang TWO song names?

(I think their song Holiday came later than Ms?)

spank Go listen to it 26 times in a row! no no no!

And I don't think Madonna looks through a list of titles and thinks 'Hmmmm... today, I'm having that one'. ~ chooses 'Bohemian Rhapsody' ~

lol It's just coincidence, I'm sure. lol Maybe she gets a title in her head, or maybe she arrives at the title, but I just can't see her outwardly stealing titles like that.

Or Brian Eno. love

OMG that would be some crazy shit!
I'd love to see her work with Max Martin and get one more #1 in America, but it'd be so kick ass if she worked with Kevin Barnes or MGMT I'd like to see her go Indie dance.

Interesting "Celebration" news coming from a Dutch press release is that the collection of Madonna's best videos, also with the same title and also released on September 25 will also be a 2 DVD set!!! cool

Not sure if someone had posted it but you can stream her new song "Celebration" (album quality)

sounds like a poor mans version of "get together"

I really like the song. It's a lot of fun. I'm surprised by some of the negative reactions. But then I never could understand how some people praised Hard Candy. I think that is the worst album she ever did. This is a big improvement.

Maybe she doesn't choose songs from alist, but i.e. Cherish by K&TG was such a huge hit in 1986/87? And she wrote Cherish in early 1988 so you can't say she would not have realized she's titling a song after a huge hit.

I think it's a coincident but also speaks to how generic her song titles can be at at times. The other day I realized that I had two "Human Nature"'s on my small MP3 player (Madonna and Michael Jackson).

About "Celebration", it's definately a cheap and faster version of "Get Together". The music is very dated but the it's just a lot of fun, sexual (the little spoken word thing is kind of hot) and nonsense (kind of like "Candy Shop" in theme). It's a good throwback to her many of her older songs. I think it's fitting for a hits album and not a proper disc. Nice one off. I can't imagine her actually doing an album with Oakenfield.

The link didn't work. The single cover has been posted here. It's the one with a bunch of candid images of Madonna (all from one session) and her eyes in the middle of the cover. It's OK.

I think this song is throwaway Eurotrash....a lazy, uninspired Oakenfold production.I hope that Madonna doesn't recruit him for her next album.

Im inclined to agree. I hate the phrase Eurotrash - you could call Hung Up eurotrash, and that was a classic - but its LAZY eurotrash. It reeks of contractual obligation. She cant have spent more than 10 mins writing and recording this.

lol...I was trying to think of the right word to describe it and all I could come up with is "Eurotrash" lol but yeah, this is a lazy, uninspired effort. And I'm sick and tired of the "no hesitation/what are you waiting for" theme that keeps popping up in her work.Lyrically, this new song covers the same theme we heard on "Dance 2Night" (a much better song, imo).

nod I really like it. It has an edge and a sparseness that really appeals to me. It feels a bit underground, compared to her other work.

Definitely, and overall i think its her most cohesive and consistent album it just doesn't have a valley for me its all peak.

You say it's cohesive and consistent, but what strikes me is that each song has its own distinct character. Unlike many of her other albums, each song sounds distinct from the others. I think that's what keeps it interesting for me.

You know what? "Revolver" is a crap song (based on the demo we heard) but I think it's a much better song than "Celebration".Plus,I think it would have a better shot on American radio.Maybe Warners should have chosen that as the first single?

they seriously need to go back to picking different singles for different markets. Revolver in the US, Celebration in Europe. same fot the Hard Candy singles. it's a crime that they released Give It 2 Me and Miles Away in the US. Beat Goes On and ... well anything else really would have been surefire hits. I know you love Miles Away to pieces, but there really is no radio market for that song anywhere in the world razz

Yeah, for 'Hard Candy',they should have released "Beat Goes On" as the second single. They should have used a different approach: the single should have been released a week before the album was released, with a spectacular video featuring Pharrell and Kanye.Warners really screwed that one up.

Now I know you'll disagree with me,but I think "Miles Away" was a perfect third single choice lol It just needed proper promotion and an excellent video.Warners just threw it out there, with a lame single edit and no promotion at all.For her part,Madonna didn't even bother to film a decent video. It was doomed to fail.

"Heartbeat" should have been the fourth single. That song and "Miles Away" wouldn't have become major hits, but that's okay.In recent years,Madonna's third and fourth singles usually don't do that well anyway. But considering how commercial this album is,Warners could have easily gotten Two Top 10 American hits from it ("4 Minutes" and "Beat Goes On").That would have been enough.

From what I've heard from insiders,Warners were pissed when Madonna signed a new recording contract with Live Nation. They tried really hard to get her to stay. They're not too happy that they're losing their biggest artist. That's why they didn't do alot of aggressive promotion for 'Hard Candy'.The irony is that,as a parting gift,Madonna gave them the most commercial,radio-friendly album of her career and they weren't able to properly promote and sell it.

Well, look at disc one, track 5 - 'Rain or Music'. neutral

I'll definitely be getting this, if only to complete my collection geek, however I still can't help being disappointed an artist of Madonna's magnitude hasn't ever released a box-set. sigh NO Best Of will ever satisfy the fans but I think this is aimed at the casual listener (but scooping up the real fans with two bonus tracks).

It's time for a lavish Box Set!!!

I agree and I can't see why we don't have a box set by now shrug I heard that Warners wants to do it but Madonna won't cooperate. It would be great if we got a lavish multi-disc box set (with all the hits, plus key album tracks, unreleased tracks, alternate mixes, etc) just in time for Christmas. To please to casual fans, they could also release a single disc containing the biggest hits.

Yeah,I saw that lol It's absurd that Madonna would consider a song like "Rain" (which wasn't one of her bigger hits) over a Number One hit single like "Music".

Just the very idea of what you suggested... drool When even MJ and Prince have released Box-set/outtake collections, it really surprises me that Madonna won't budge. If anything, you'd think she'd be the FIRST to do it!

Agreed. wink I meaan, I looooove 'Rain' (that soaring section leading into 'Here comes the sun...' is one of my favourite-ever Madonna moments love) but - on a Best Of - that or 'Music'? C'mon. rolleyes lol

supposedly, she hates to "look back",preferring to focus solely on her new music shrug The only reason she's doing this 'Celebration' set is because she's obligated to.It's part of her contract, the final album that she owes Warners.
