Rant: Where do these Michael Jackson investigation leaks keep coming from?

July 27, 2009

(ChattahBox) — We are bombarded with new so-called developments in the Michael Jackson case every day. I realize many people are clamoring for these details but we have tried to be prudent about how often and what we report. But in observing the media circus from mostly the sidelines, I am appalled by the many reported leaks in the investigation, claimed to be from official sources. While it’s easy to dismiss at least some of these as perhaps dodgy or overzealous reporting I kind of went over the edge tonight, with a report I just saw. The headline: AP source: Jackson doc gave him drug before death

The main claim in the story: “Michael Jackson’s personal doctor administered a powerful anesthetic to help him sleep, and authorities believe the drug is what killed the pop singer, a law enforcement official told The Associated Press on Monday.”

The source supposedly spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation is ongoing. If you believe the AP to be a trusted media source, which I mostly do, then why is a law enforcement official, which you would have to associate with the LAPD since they are handling the case giving out such information? The AP has everything to gain by publishing such juicy details, but what about the official and the department? Sometimes leaking unofficial information is an intended tool used by law enforcement to get the word out on something to help their case, but I am having a hard time believing that is what’s going on here. In fact it seems like this could only harm their case by telegraphing the direction of their investigation and potentially prejudicing a future jury. So what does the official who gave out this information get out this? He or she certainly didn’t get their name in the paper so if it’s not fame they sought so what then?

You know if anyone should know what damage leaking information in a high profile case can cause, it’s the Los Angeles police. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office is already looking into whether county coroner’s office employees may have illegally leaked or sold private information from early in the Jackson death investigation. Perhaps it’s just the tip of the proverbial iceberg.

From TMZ:

http://www.tmz.com/2009/0...ied-lapd-/

We've told you since July 15 police believe Dr. Conrad Murray administered Propofol to Michael Jackson -- the drug that killed him. There's a reason police believe it. Dr. Murray told them.

Two days after Jackson's death, Dr. Murray told LAPD detectives he administered Propofol to the singer hours before he died ... this, according to multiple law enforcement sources.

We're told Dr. Murray gave Jackson an IV drip of the powerful anesthesia. Police believe Dr. Murray simply wasn't paying attention when the singer's heart stopped beating.

Authorities believe Dr. Murray may have actually fallen asleep during the time the drug was administered and may have awakened to find Jackson already dead from heart failure.

An IV drip of Propofol allows a constant, steady infusion of the drug for a period of time determined by the person administering it.

It is considered reckless in the medical community for a doctor to administer an IV drip of Propofol without the patient being monitored by an EKG, which sounds an alarm when the patient's pulse drops too low. No EKG was found in the house.

Another device -- known as a pulse oximeter -- is used to determine the oxygen saturation in the patient's blood. If the patient's breathing slows to a dangerous level, an alarm alerts the treating physician. Again, no oximeter was found in the house.

Hate to burst the bubble but in wanting to be factual - the "do i see something sticking out" is actually the guard saying "be careful stepping down".

Great clips though. Did anyone here attend the signing?

Really? I could not make out what he was saying and someone said he had said this. Anyway, why does Mike say "you nasty"?

I wasn´t at the signing. wish I was.

Most likely he feel asleep while administering the drug. At the same time, he didn't have the proper medical equipment around, because an alarm would ring up if the patient's pulse was falling. Murray would have woken up if an alarm was there.

I hate this Murray mad mad mad mad

A death would could have been prevented.

Michael Jackson doctor Conrad Murray's desert hideaway

28/07/2009
Murray Red rock home

This is the secluded, high-security estate where Michael Jackson's personal physician Dr Conrad Murray is holed up.

Cardiologist Dr Murray, 51, went to ground in his home on the Red Rock Country Club outside Las Vegas after cops raided his offices and a search warrant revealed he was a suspect in a manslaughter inquiry.

The estate is a 735-acre village that is set in a national park in the middle of the Nevada desert. Dr Murray and wife Blanche, also a doctor, are two of just over a thousand people living there.

It is the perfect hideaway for anyone who wishes to stay out of the public eye.

Uniformed guards man every entrance and visitors must report to a security office. Currently anyone who asks to see Dr Murray is sent packing.

The Rev Floyd Williams, a friend of Dr Murray for 20 years, said: "He isn't answering his phone."

Dr Murray is listed at two medical centres in Las Vegas but has not been seen at either since Jacko's death.

He took leave from his Nevada practice so he could accompany Jackson to London for his 50 comeback concerts.

Dr Murray, who was to be paid a reported £90,000 a month, had treated Jackson on and off for three years, including a period when he was living in Las Vegas.

Randy Phillips, the boss of the firm promoting Jacko's concerts, said: "Michael told me personally he trusted this man."

The official said Jackson regularly received propofol to sleep, relying on the drug like an alarm clock. A doctor would administer it when he went to sleep, then stop the intravenous drip when he wanted to wake up.

What the hell??!! That's insane.
Michael was on an inevitable collision course with death when he elected to start using a dangerous surgical drug as a sleep aid. He was being both irresponsible & reckless.
