I almost look at Triumph as a MJ solo album. But you can tell when the brothers would sing or have a solo spot (Tito).

The team work, the harmonizations are all amazing! Agree. It's just that those albums get so over looked because of his solo work. In fact I prefer albums like "Going Places" and "the Jacksons" to some of his solo work. I hope that during this time people actually rediscover the work of The Jacksons as a group instead of harping on about Thriller.

Great song from a great album.

I brought both their 1976 Epic debut album and 'Goin' Places' this morning. 'Find Me A Girl' and 'Blues Away' are just my jams. Check me out and add me on:

I love this song! It's so funky
The whole album triumphs all of MJ's solo albums except for OTW

I adore this song! It's just one catchy and funky joint that's hard not to move to. In fact, what hasn't been said that has already been said about the Triumph and Destiny albums? Those two albums are classics and they both were blueprints for MJ's early solo work for Epic. The production on both of those albums could even rival Quincy Jones' productions for Off The Wall and Thriller also. Check me out and add me on:

Michael actually did all the vocals on the song (both lead and background) so this technically was his first solo single but it was on The Jacksons. I can't hear his brothers at all. Just him.

I began to see that the songwriting became more personal and dealt with the trials Michael was going through. I mean he was coming of age at that point anyway. The Destiny album is even harder to listen to because 80% of that album is straight autobiographical, more so than HIStory was probably, but that's a different story. It just saddens me that Mike was pouring his heart out on many of these songs and was hurt and unhappy. Check me out and add me on:

'Push Me Away,' 'Things I Do For You,' 'Destiny,' 'Bless His Soul,' and 'That's What You Get (For Being Polite)' is just the naked truth of Michael Jackson's coming of age period. I mean, he just had his mask off on these songs and wasn't holding anything back. Hell, he kinda foretold his later years a little in this album if you listen closely to the lyrics of those songs. That's what makes this album and the tracks he did during this period so relevatory. It's just a same that the Jacksons period is one of the most forgotten and underappreciated periods of Michael's legacy. Check me out and add me on:

Going over MJ's career, it's obvious that while people either follow his Motown tenure (which was short in record label standards) and his Quincy Jones solo breakthrough albums, they don't EVER go to that mid-period. At that point, sales and spectacle be damned, Michael's soul really shined through those recordings, his vocals were very soulful and he definitely foretold his later years. If you really want the musical autobiography of Michael Jackson, don't go to Dangerous or HIStory go listen to the Jacksons' records instead.

But it's funny you flash forward to 2001 and MJ reuniting with his brothers and he's all like "you mean 'Never Can Say Goodbye'?" And he actually sing a bit of it before Marlon went "no, no, no Michael, we meant 'I Want You Back', I think this was after Jermaine did a little of 'Let's Get Serious' and Marlon had to correct him that "that was yours".
