Um, you know... if that stretch from Speed Demon through Just Good Friends was replaced with Streetwalker and Fly Away and Cheater... I think I just might agree with this.

What about "Liberian Girl"? sad

it's alright, I suppose, but I like "Fly Away" better as "the other ballad"... hell, put it on there instead of "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" ...

"Liberian Girl" is cool, I guess. I just always kind of get bored in that whole stretch that wraps up Side A

I can understand maybe replacing "Speed Demon" and definitely replacing "Just Good Friends", but "Liberian Girl" stays. For Indigo's sake! mad

You have to look no further than the title track for this album's slice of cheese.

You know, in the last couple of years, I've figured out what's "wrong" with the song "Bad"....

If it's going to have background vocals at all, it needs to have something little tougher and more bad-ass than the West Side Story choir sining "bad, bad, really, really bad" ...

and also a guitar solo instead of an organ solo.

ya know?

i still really like it though.

I hate the backgrpound vocals to Bad. They are to flimsy and high pitched. I know they are MJ's but still. Bad move (no pun intended).

Nothing in Michael Jackson's recorded history is as horrifying as "The Girl Is Mine". Thriller has some great songs, but I feel that Bad has more.

Horrifying? lol Its not the best song on the album, but come on. lol

lol I agree. Childhood is one of his most horrifying tracks. I mean, I understand the lyrical meaning and all...but....::cringe::
• Did you first think Prince was gay? •

Wendy: He’s a girl, for sure, but he’s not gay. He looked at me like a gay woman would look at another woman. Lisa: Totally. He’s like a fancy lesbian.

reportedly, Barbra Steisand turned down the opportunity to be his duet partner on "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" saying she simply didn't like the song.

Michael's response? "You ain't seen nothin' yet!" lol

The song is crap, but the disc is okay. I really liked the NJS songs (Money, 2 Bad, Scream) and "Earth Song" and "Stranger in Moscow". "They Don't Care About Us" has an excellent build up but when it hits that guitar riff, it drags out to a boring payoff confused

I heard that some of those tracks were from the Dangerous era? If "Earth Song" had been on Dangerous instead of "Heal the World" and BotDF was there instead of "Gone Too Soon", I wouldn't have to hit skip.

While global figures of that album haven't been known, I don't think you're far off that the album's overall sales easily tops HIStory's.

According to a 2003 Rolling Stone article, the White Album has sold 9.5 million in the United States presumably. I doubt that its sold an additional 10.5 million in the last 6 years.

http://www.rollingstone.c...hite_album

Im just looking for facts here.

I'm reffering to worldwide sales. As we were with HIStory as well.

Maybe not, you never know. The White album was no St Peppers that's for sure. Not as good as Revolver either imo.

saleswise across his massive career (that may or may not be over, depending on his legacy, unreleased recordings etc) Mike will eclipse eveybody in time, i'm sure.
Although sales don't = quality exactly (though he is/was talented to a massive extent) i'm happy and content to have supported this man for so long.

And will continue to do so too.

I think the Beatles will be the band with the biggest sales od the 00s.

"1" sold 30 mio! Then the back catalogue sales grow slowly, but steady.

In September millions of people will buy the CDs AND the digital songs.

Which other band could top this?

Btw, I prefer The wHITE ALBUM anytime over Sgt Pepper.

maybe, maybe not. the Beatles albums are all being released in 2 versions of remasters in September, and available at digital outlets for the first time ever.

i think that's going to give them a boost waaaaay beyond where they're at now.

on the other hand, in the last decade, Sony seems pretty gung ho about re-packaging his back catalog every few years, and i'm sure it's only going to get worse from now on, so that'll continue to give MJ a boost as well.

My favorite tracks on HIStory:
Scream
They Don't Care About Us
Stranger in Moscow
Earth Song
D.S.
Tabloid Junkie
2Bad (though I still wish it was Shaq-less)
Smile

Good but not great tracks:
Scream
This Time Around
Money (the lyrics are so true)
Childhood (I like the instrumentation)
History (the historical interludes ruin it for me too)
You Are Not Alone

The WTF is it on the album track:
Come Together.

Overall grade: B+

razz

You forgot one of his most artistic ones :

Little susie....Vastly Underrated.

It is a little winded and haunting..the first verse and everything plays along well...but he doesnt go on to say what actually happened to Little Suzie other than someone killing her....followed by Smile....two sad songs in a row just did not end the album well. It was disjointed and odd....too many different musical elements, however they still had melodies and great crafty lyrics...especially Tabloid Junkie, Scream, Stranger..., and Money. Stronger than Bad, Victory and Invincible.

"Pictures at an exhibition" I think? Its been awhile since I played it though.

Heres Emerson Lake and Palmer doing it, with added words. The actual segment is called "the great gates of kiev", as its a long ass piece of music...

I like Mikes choice of classical music. Not surprisenly, he likes bombastic, stirring stuff like "the gates of kiev". I love it aswell.

The "HIStory" advert is russian based again, this time from the OST of "hunt for red october" (which I own somewhere and is OK). I prefer the adaptation they did for Mikes ad, but heres the original piece.

Given the russian feel of the track (and singing LOL), its not surprising the ad itself felt like some grandiose advert for Stalins second coming or something. I love it, and Mike loves all that bombastic parading as we know from the 80's.

Heres the "HIStory ad". Only Mike would get away with something like this LOL....
