Nas ordered to pay $44K a month in alimony and child support Ouch.....
— A judge has ordered Nas to pay Kelis and their newborn child nearly $44,000 a month for the near future. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Louis Meisinger issued the order at a hearing on Thursday. Kelis and Nas have been sparring over support payments for several months. Kelis, who filed for divorce from the rapper in April, contends Nas hasn't paid many of the costs of her pregnancy and her expenses. Her representative, Tracey Nguyen, says the 29-year-old singer gave birth at a New York hospital Wednesday night. Nguyen says the baby weighed 7 pounds, 8 ounces. His full name is Nasir Jones; baby Knight is taking his father's last name.

apparently-kelis says that nas has 5 homes. Listen, I'm as shocked as anyone else. "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

He was dumb to not support the child in the first place and now he has to pay even more money. The judge was probably more harsh because of her complaints.

Good for Kelis. I like her Neptunes produced stuff, Protect My Heart was one of my 2008 summer jams.

Child support goes by percentage income earned, NOT amounts that it takes to raise a child. This is why many men who earn minimum wage get away with paying a hundred bucks a month for child support. This case being on the opposite end of that spectrum.
If dude has a certain lifestyle and is making that type of money then baby gets a cut. Its cheaper to get custody. [Edited 7/24/09 13:56pm]
