Seriously, dude. Quit typing. You have no idea what you're talking about. When Jermaine Jackson left the group, brother Randy joined so it was STILL the Jackson 5, fool. When the Jackson 5 left Motown they became the Jacksons. Really, dude, you're embarrassing yourself. Stop, please. disbelief

I said the same thing. I was so proud of him.

We get so used to talking about his hair and how he is always talking about a reunion, but we tend to forget he is a damn good singer.

Me too. After all these years he still has that voice. I bet he can still rock that bass too. If he had stayed focused he'd have done well for himself.

You need to go to allmusic.com and find out about the hits Jermaine had. Just because you are not familiar with them, doesn't mean it didn't happen.

nod Yes, exactly.
And Jermaine's hits were big in UNITED STATES, FOOL! Where it matters...flag

actually if you were a fan of the group or botherd to check you would know that randy joined the group before jermaine left, so there were six jackson brothers in the jackson five for a while. when the group signed to cbs and lost the name the jackson 5 because motown kept the rights, jermaine left the band as he was married to berry gordons daughter, they were renamed the jacksons and there were five of them until michael left, and jermaine came back to for the last jacksons album after he left

Jermaine should have never stopped recording in the first place. Why did he stop? If Howard Hewitt, Freddie Jackson and those guys are still recording/touring, why not Jermaine?

Exactly.

Jermaine should go back in the UK and tour the same club circuit as Alexander O'Neal did and get that soul cred back. He can do it!

god no. i really have no idea of alex stooped so low. i never even knew he was doing that until he appeared on celebretard whore swap. he was a big star in the 80s, but he just faded away, it's not like he even started releasing crap albums. with a bit of promotion behind him from the likes of say clive davis, he could probably shoot him back into popularity again if he did a half decent album. even a "long awaited" covers or duets album would do well

i don't think that many people would be bothered to see jermaine live as a solo performer, especially due to lack of hits over here, and not having done anything in donkeys years. we've already had susan boyle so the public have had thier fix of phenomenon already this year, so no-one over here is talking about his performance of smile. in fact i expected to hear more of MJ on the tv news over the week, but it really peetered out after the memorial. in the newspapers all they are talking about is the walking pharmacetecal research lab that was michael jackson, and the family arguing about the will. MJ's missing brain has got umpteen times more newstime and column inches than jermaine

now is the best time for the jacksons to regroup. if they did it when MJ was alive, it would have been an embarassing flop as MJ wouldn't have been involved, so now they have the excuse why thier brother can't join them. if they appeared at a tribute gig to begin with, and then toured some tv shows talking about him and doing some old songs, they could possibly pull off a few arena shows

the question is, does janet get involved? whilst her career has been heading down the dumper lately, if she pulled off a decent new album and the promotion was right, she could pull things back together again. many people will be wondering what her first post MJ release will be like, so she has interest there that she just needs to take advantage off. she doesn't need to tour with her brothers, and i think if she did a combined tour it would water down her career, like she's taken a further step down. pretty much the same reasons MJ wouldn't tour with them

there is the possibility that the jacksons could be the opening act for a solo janet show, but again that might make it look like the jacksons are second rate compared to their sister

the other question is are all the brothers interested in getting back together, AND in a fit state to do so. obviously one of them is literally stacking shelves in a supermarket these days to help pay the bills, so i imagine he would be chomping at the bit, and the others have been appearing on any old reality show that wanted them, not because they really wanted that jackson brother, but in case they spoke about the famous jackson brother. a career built upon talking about your famous relative probably isn't a fulfilling one

the combined power of the other jacksons is far bigger than each as a solo artist. it's like seperating the ingrediants of a cake, no-one would eat any of them seperately, but stick them all together...

just don't make any new music, perform solo hits, stick to a hits packed reunion cash in, and never say the words "here's a new song we've been working on" whilst onstage

Get ur facts straight. Randy didn't officially join the group until 1976. True, he would join the group on stage during the J5s last years at Motown, but he wasn't on the payroll.

Another thing, Jermaine joined the group for the last 2 Jacksons albums. He was on Victory as well as 2300 Jackson St.

Exactly, but not as part of the J5. I should have stated it that way. He was only paid as a band member.

But since he was a brother, he was part of the group. After a performance, he'd get interviewed with the rest of the brothers.

whether he joined the group officially or not, the fact was there were six brothers in the jackson five, and they were appearing on tv shows, introducing all the brothers by name, and mentioning randy as "the newest member of the band". i watched a bunch of old tv clips a few weeks ago, and none of the presenters or band members said "but he's an unnoficial member of the band, so ignore him when counting the band members", we was onstage from the start to the end of the performance

when roger waters left pink floyd, david gilmour and nick mason were the only official band members, and keyboard player rick wright who was with them from the start, and the only keyboard player until the 1980 wall tour, was simply on the payroll as an employee, but the fans don't care about technicalities as long as he was onstage (now he is dead, so they probably don't want that anymore, but it doesn't like like floyd will ever tour again, so it's not a major issue)

Not neccesarily, though.

In R&B we have a market and an entire touring circuit for our old people. He could readily and easily hook into the 50 million music festivals we have going on every summer, like Essence. He could hook up with the Tom Joyner Foundation and get on the fantastic Voyage or 4 day Family Reunion concert series. Steve Harvey was a close friend of his brother's and now that he has syndication and all these crazy sponsers, he could play his r&b hits at one of the gazillion concert series Steve produces. There's always the Sinbad Summer Jams, and his festivals always mix the young (I guess what used to be known as the neo soul kids) with old ass R&B acts (Isleys, Gap Band, ect). He was popular enough on R&B radio where he could easily do one of those tours. He just has to get up off his butt.... and maybe wipe some of that hair pommade off of his face lol

I'm trying to picture him singing "You Like Me Don't You", serenading some 45+ year old insurance agent with a big booty, her remembering when she was young, fine, and her butt no so big mushy. I'm telling you, that shit would be a HIT falloff.

Actually, now that I think about it, even I would pay to see that. I love when oldies stars do that serenade thing and you can practically see the audiennce member thinking back to when they were 20. It's not complete without the rose though, you have to give woman a rose so she can look crazy while you sing her into la-la land. Retro-cheezy and over the top. I LOVE it. He needs to hop to it! lol

What do you mean whether he joined the group officially or not? He was NOT a part of the Jackson 5 until Jermaine left. And then almost immediately they became the Jacksons on Epic. Yes, there are six brothers, so? He played congas in the background. You never saw the Jackson 5 with 6 brothers on stage at the forefront. That's ridiculous. Although he had made many guest appearances with the Jackson 5, Randy didn't officially join the family band until 1976, when they changed their name to The Jacksons and signed with Epic Records.

And where the hell is the Pink Floyd comparison coming from? I'm a fan of the Floyd and I'll tell you this: Roger Waters IS Pink Floyd. Pink Floyd SUCK without him!

if you look back to the original statement, i made a joke that there were six people in the band, referring to the jackson 5. i didn't say the jackson 5 specifically, but there were six jackson brothers in the band that appeared on tv shows under the name the jackson five

what floyd has to do with it was just another example of how people can be band members, yet not be "official" members. founding member rick wright was kicked out the band around 1981, yet played with floyd in EVERY live show since the band started, including live 8, where another founding member roger waters played with the band, reuniting the classic lineup, but waters himself was not an official member of pink floyd. so you had three of the original band members (out of 4), yet only the drummer was an official member, and the only other official member, dave gilmour joined the band during the recording of the second album, making floyd a five peice for a brief period before syd barrett left

when people say floyd reunite at live 8, they just thought of the classic lineup playing again, they didn't care who was an official member of not. what difference does it make, they are on stage playing together

thus with the jackson 5 you had 6 jackson brothers all onstage at the same time playing together. the joke being, no wonder the family is fucked up if they have a band called the jackson 5, but with 6 jacksons in it

it really wasn't worth all the bloody arguement. what is the problem with jackson fans being in denial all the fucking time? there were six jacksons in the jackson five, so fucking what? some prince fans didn't like larry graham playing in the band, but they don't go in denial about him and pretend he didn't exist

I'm pretty sure thats where you work, and where you eat those burgers that people spit on.

mmm, delicious!

on the subject of Jermaine, the reason he stopped recording was because he found other things in life more important, such as religion (he is a muslim) and devoting more time to charities and various other events.

He only sang at the funeral because it was his own brother, and he felt that was the best way to do a tribute.

But other than that, Jermaine doesn't really have any ambition to go and tour etc.

He would probably do something with the brothers now though as a tribute, buts thats about it.

While its not forbidden for him to sing, he probably doesn't feel the need to do so.

He does have a heck of a voice though, very natural and very pleasant.

Unlike most shit "singers" these days.

Please. I'll defend Jermaine where he needs to be defended, but let's not start telling lies. Jermaine stopped recording because record companies were no longer interested. Let's keep it real here.

unique of course is talking utter shit about Jermaine's career though. "Do What You Do" was a Top 1O hit in the UK and "Let's Get Serious" was an international smash. "Daddy's Home" was a Top 10 hit in the US and he had numerous R&B hits throughout the 70s and 80s.

It would be nice if honesty and accuracy was more highly prized around here.

on the subject of Jermaine, the reason he stopped recording was because he found other things in life more important, such as religion (he is a muslim) and devoting more time to charities and various other events.

It would be nice if honesty and accuracy was more highly prized around here.

i didn't say he didn't have hits, i'm saying that i hadn't heard of them, and doing a poll across the uk, i doubt you'll find over 0.01% of the population that could name a solo jermaine track. in the states you might be lucky if 1% of the population could name one of his solo tracks. how many years ago was it he had those solo hits you mention? i bet michael still had his original nose when they were released

Must you tell lies? Usually that's the specialty of MJ loons, but right now you are being just as dishonest as them. Here is what you said....

the problem with 1 and 3 is he has no solo hits, and no-one wants to hear new material from old acts, they just want the hits, thus with no hits, he has no audience

Then when someone posted a list of his hits, you replied....

did you just make up the names of those songs as i've never heard of them. maybe they were hits in yugoslavia, but not in the uk

Actually Jermaine had two Top 10 hits in the UK. "Do What You Do" and "Let's Get Serious". So you were wrong.

If you want to reclaim some dignity the best thing you can do is put your hands up, admit you were talking about something you know nothing about, and move on.

well in between all the rest i forgot what i said in the first place. but like i said, who the fuck could name one of his hits without looking it up on the internet. certainly no-one who has a life outside of world of warcraft or neverland. i bet more people could name a milli vanilli single

I gotta be honest, Jermaine is my fav Jackson, but I would lose respect for him if all of a sudden NOW he decides to put out a CD just because Michael died mad

Why? It could be his way of dealing with the death. Maybe he could realize that music is what he loves and he should do it while he still can. Who knows what his reasons would be?
