What now for Jermaine Jackson?

I always loved Jermaine's voice. It may not have been as dynamic as Mike's, but he had a beautiful sound, and fortunately, he doesn't seem to have lost it. Having sang to an audience of a billion at the memorial and with the renewed interest in all things Jackson, could he (and maybe the other Jackson boys) revive his musical career? I personally would love that because I love Jermaine's voice and I believe he would naturally sing more melodic songs than most contemporary R&B singers. He gets a lot of hate round here, but the cat can sing! Could a revival of his career be on the cards now?

If Jermaine wants to make a comeback, this is what he could do..

1) Do a small club/theatre tour doing all of his solo hits and some J5 material. Maybe even do some obscure things that the J5 never did before live.

2) Hire a good backing band with some strong female vocalists. Maybe bring Randy along.

3) Put out a greatest hits compilation with maybe a few new songs.

4) vainandy said maybe hookup with Joe. That could work. Maybe work with some current producers like Joe or Brian McKnight.

5) Do the oldies tour circuit (Maze/Kool & The Gang/Howard Hewitt etc)

6) Lose the ego.

7) And most important..get rid of that 80's hairdo and wipe all that grease off his face. He used to be a good looking guy.

Jermaine should have never stopped recording in the first place. Why did he stop? If Howard Hewitt, Freddie Jackson and those guys are still recording/touring, why not Jermaine?

the problem with 1 and 3 is he has no solo hits, and no-one wants to hear new material from old acts, they just want the hits, thus with no hits, he has no audience

the problem with number 2 is that randy isn't a girl, and even if he had a sex change, i don't care what the law says, he wouldn't be a girl, and probably not as good looking as the bangcock lady boys

the problem with number 4 is that they aren't exactly the hottest producers, and being a 50+ year old dude, he's going to find it hard to compete with rihanna and pussycat dolls, even if he did have a great song

the problem with number 5 is that he wasn't the one in the group that anyone wanted to see. he wasn't even the ringo of the band, plus he left the band in 1976, which is before most MJ fans were born

the problem with number 6 is that he has absolutely no ego at all. he was on celebrity big brother in the UK for fucks sake. you can't get any lower than that

the problem with number 7 is as a result of not having plastic surgery, he doesn't look like the rest of his family

cuz the guys you mentioned had solo hits, and people have heard of them. the problem with the jacksons is that there are so many of them, it's like starbucks, if you don't go in the first one you see there will be another one just around the corner. at least samauel jackson went into acting after he left the band, wtf did the others do? what happened to the little guy who sang lead vox in j5?

Wow unique, you really don't know much about any of the Jacksons, do you? Would it really kill you to do a little research? Jeez.

Not at all. It looks like he was about to break down himself. If you heard MJ's version of "Smile", it's awsome.

Jermaine has more than enough talent to still be recording.I think its a shame that he hasnt put his bass playing more into the forefront. With record labels dying( lol ) and with people being able to record on independant labels on their terms, if Jermaine wanted to, he could come out with a release that I think would be successful. He definitely has the voice for it..

I love a lot of Jermaine's songs the "let's get serious" album is my favorite overall. He's a talented musician and vocalist. Him and Randy should team up for some songwriting together perhaps. Live instrumentation is a must. And he can easily perform and do shows. I'd love for an acoustic setting. His bass playing style is similar to James Jamerson, so he can do a lot with it. "where are you now" or "you like me don't you" with a true band and some strong backing vocalists and his live vocals would be amazing to hear. Plenty of options for Jermaine.

1) Hits..
"Let's Get Young Tonight"
"Let's Get Serious"
"Tell Me I'm Not Dreaming"
"Let Me Tickle Your Fancy"
"Do What You Do"
"Don't Take It Personal"
"Dynamite"
"Daddy's Home" - (remake)
..and I know there's a few more I've forgotten

2) Who said Randy had to have a sex change to be one of the back up singers? I never said that. I said bring him along.

3) Working with the new producers seemed to help Lionel (60 yrs old)..and I will admit his new music is crap but he's still out there. Madonna??? ..Hello!!???!!..
..51 this year..The music she's put out in the last 11 years (with all the cutting edge producers) has still kept her out there. Age ain't nothin' but a #.

4) From what I can recall (and I'm showing my age) Jermaine had his slew of fans..All the dudes I knew wanted to play bass because of him and all the girls I knew were pissed when he married Ms. Gordy..This is when they still were the J5. At one point, Jermaine was considered the "sex symbol" of the J5.

5) Oh yeah he's got an ego. All that trash he said about Micheal in the early 90's was pretty much out of resentment. He even wrote that stupid song "Word 2 The Badd".

Once he started getting hit with lawsuits and divorce papers by his ex (Ms. Maldonado?) later on in that decade, that stopped all the trash talk.

6) Man please..He's had plastic surgery. Stevie Wonder could see that. Those fake cheekbone implants that just came out of nowhere in the mid 80's? Yes he's had work done.

Samuel Jackson??...Dude please. You're really looking for attention.

I'm not talking about chart comebacks. None of them are gonna do that. I'm just talking about him actually having a musical career again. He really hasn't had one since the early 90s.

I actually think Mike's death makes Janet look even more irrelevant. The spotlight is now much more on Jermaine than Janet. He got a chance to show a billion people that he's a singer in his own right, and that his voice is still there.

I think if Janet could sing, she would have done a song herself. But it wasn't an occasion for dancing or lip-synching so she was out of luck. I think her situation is the same now as it was before. But Jermaine has an opportunity if he would just swallow his foolish pride and play smaller venues.

I never understood that either. If he wants to make money, he's gonna have to get his ass on the road. He had the goods to continue releasing music. Maybe he got tired of it and decided to focus on his family life.

Come on. This man had the balls to do his own thing before the rest of his siblings. He has talent and hits to do a full tour. Sure, he may not be able to pull off the spectacle that MJ and Janet could, but he could have done a good show.

How could you group all Jacksons in the same category. All of them are not related. Samuel, Millie, Art, etc. are not related to Jermaine, Janet, etc. confused
