Old School R&B Song Of The Day(12/19/2002) Jackson 5- All I Do Is Think Of You Good Morning Orgers,
Hope everyone is doing well, as well as, wrapping up your holiday shopping for the season. We are serving up old school vintage R&B songs over here from this week until the end of the year. This idea came about, because a week and a half ago, fellow orger rdhull would chime with old school songs and that seemed like a good idea. Ain't nothing like old school r&B/funk!!! Ok let us continue... Taking you back to 1975 for this one. And actually this was the B-side of a hit single for one of The Jackson 5's last singles for Motown Records called "Forever Came Today". However radio stations caught onto the song and start playing it{in heavy rotation} and it became a favorite of teenage girls across the country. ONCE AGAIN, we are reminded of an overlooked aspect of Michael's talents...his ability to sing, style and deliver a ballad with amazing compassion. This is classic stuff right here and I wish old school R&B stations would give it a spin once in a while{instead of always playing Marvin Gaye's "Let Get It On" and Heatwave's "Always And Forever" not that they're not great songs}. Michael sings with conviction and passion throughout... "I can't wait to get to school each day and wait for you to pass my way" bells start to ring...an angel starts to say ...hey that's the girl for you..so what are you gonna do"...I love it. many teenage girls on my block used to play this song on their stereo back in tha day. R&B troop had a number #1 R&B hit in 1989 with this song...but their version seems rather tame compared to Mike and his brothers...An overlooked classic...Enjoy!!!

This song has been talked about recently on some MJ boards. I never really liked it myself. There are far better songs on the later J5 albums.
