Michael Jackson is what art is: The ability to cause an affect on you without having a personal experience with the creator through via art. Great music does that. And so did Michael Jackson. My heart is very heavy this morning because a happy part of my childhood has died along with him. I realize that I'm getting older, that death will be coming for me. I have no aspirations in touching millions of people like Michael Jackson did. That is impossible and not a mantle I could handle. But when I have kids, I hope that their father will inspire them the way Michael Jackson inspired me. Thanks chuckaducci for understanding. Though I have seen him, my regret was never having the opportunity to meet him and never went to any of his concerts. He appeared very friendly and polite. | |

Damn, it's gonna seem weird not seeing Michael in the media constantly. What a hell of an untimely DEATH, your hear one minute and gone the next! I'm blasting Michael's music today, to celebrate his life.

reading alot of the speculation is making this situation all the sadder. I truly hope the Jackson family can help MJs kids through this as it seems life is gonna be awful tough for them in future. His debts sound pretty out of control, and it is looking increasingly like MJ overdosed. Very sad. By all accounts his family had been trying to get him back into rehab for the last few months. This is not the way a star like him should go out....all mutated and fucked up by fame - seems so wrong.....yet so inevitable too. | |

Whatever happens, the $85 million taken in from ticket sales will need to be refunded to the public. It will be messy, as well as expensive, and it will need to happen quickly by law. Phillips told Billboard in March that more than 90% of the tickets have been purchased by U.K. residents, but "the rest is France, Germany, Poland, everywhere in the world. People bought tickets from Botswana."

I'm sitting at work and even though I'm listening to a career-spanning singles collection that I put together years ago, I'm able to occasionally take myself out of the reality of the situation.
But then after a couple of minutes, it just pops into my head... "Michael Jackson is dead. fucking Michael Jackson is fucking dead. wtf?!" It's all completely believable, considering how he lived in the last 10-15 years. But it's completely unbelievable that he's actually dead. You know? I'm not devastated by his death or anything. I feel a great sadness. And listening to him now fills me with such a great joy. But it's tinged with sadness, as I think it may always be from now on. But I'm still kind of in shock. I've avoided the television reporting almost completely, but maybe I should absorb a little bit of it so that it will sink in. I think I might make a trip up to Gary or Detroit this weekend to leave some kind of small tribute at one of the memorial sites. | |

Wow, im not even a die hard fan, and as much as i love Prince, no one can fuck with Michael.

I know....you grow up with the dude....he is some of my first memories. It doesnt matter if someone met the man or not. It's like watching a family member..going through all of his ups and downs for years..reading his books, spending money on his body of work. Trying to copy him. How can someone NOT love this man?  You have to understand...I grew up as a Jehovah's Witness, just like he did. We were not allowed to listen to much secular music at all. But my mother let us listen to his music...for a while at least. The first 45in record I ever bought when I was a little girl (for $.49 at Dunn's Five & Dime Store) was ABC. I remember the time as if it was yesterday. I played it until it wore out.

Channel 4 Music - for UK orger great MJ music all day ...the tribute is very good better than MTV's ...
Channel 4 in the UK was the first to show Thriller 25 years ago and also the ones who got us the motown 25 show when he did the moonwalk for the first time..
